AVP – Regulation Management

Role purpose

Regulation Management is a combined pool of functions that include Horizon Scanning Regulatory Mapping and Regulatory Reporting verticals covering the Ecosystem of handling the Regulatory Obligations of HSBC across global regulators.

• Horizon Scanning: is a process established to monitor and capture material regulatory developments that impact HSBC Businesses. The purpose is to standardize the current, manual regulatory development tracking process globally, creating a one-stop repository of information (RAPid2) for all material regulatory developments, by working with the Global businesses and Global Functions to help them identify and manage their Regulatory risk.

• Regulation Mapping: is a process established to assist Risk Stewards who host distilled regulations on Reg MAP tool, post triaging and finalization of material regulatory developments from Rapid2. These Regulation records are further shared with 1st Line of Defense (1LOD) colleagues to assist in embedding the Group’s Risk Management Framework and linking those risks with appropriate controls accordingly.

• Regulatory Reporting: is a process established to support the Regional Report Owners to ensure that the regulatory reports that are hosted on Regulatory Reporting Information System (RRIS) are complete, accurate and maintained. This model ensures greater risk and data transparency between countries and Global Business Lines (GBL) as well as enhancing HSBC’s ability to trace risks and control analysis back to regulatory obligations.

Main activities:

• Ensure service delivery of processes as per the standards and Performance levels defined. Operating with high degree of governance. Manage change and communications effectively.

• Strong Functional and Business understanding of Regulatory Affairs, Regulation Management for Business; guide and steer team to success, training team and supporting stakeholders

• Ensuring PLA / Business MI structure provides right analysis, trends, outliers, and issues to the Business Committee.

• Ensure continuous review of processes with the objective of improving service delivery timeframes, control environment and to identify areas of improvement

• Inputs on managing costs, identify & implement areas for process improvement / standardization / automation to achieve reengineering saves, support analysis and project rollouts.

• Direct stakeholders are the in-country senior management, Regulatory Compliance, Risk teams, Transformation, IT and Lines of Business teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor/master’s degree or similar with at least 7+ years of experience in Banking/Law/Financial Services with Compliance background.
  • Experience in managing Banking Compliance, Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance or Compliance Assurance/Audit.
  • Demonstrated team player qualities and proven track record of ability to manage diverse/multi-culture work environments with strong organization, time management and prioritization demand. Relationship management within the context of Regulatory Compliance and Regulation Management.
  • Excellent communication skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills, combined with strong courageous integrity to challenge, ask the right questions, be persistent, give and receive feedback positively, collaborate effectively within teams, outside teams and with front office.
  • Expertise in working on various systems and applications, with proficiency in MS Excel/Access/Word/Ppt.
  • A highly motivated and dynamic self-starter, working collaboratively within teams, delivering on time, Project management & documentation skills.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills, ability to think laterally, Good quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and High level of professional and personal integrity.
  • Orientation towards Quality, Automation and Efficiency (Six Sigma/Lean methodology)
