Role purpose

Join Global Trade Solutions (GTS) Operations in Bangalore to support the safe, compliant, and efficient processing of trade finance transactions. The role focuses on approving trade transactions submitted at GTS counters, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and HSBC internal policies, while partnering closely with COE, Business, Compliance and other stakeholders to deliver strong client outcomes.

Business context

Global Trade Solutions has over 4,500 colleagues across 60+ countries, supporting buyers and suppliers with export and import finance. Trade is part of HSBCs heritage since 1865, and remains a core product across GBM, CMB and Private Banking

Key responsibilities

  • Approve and process trade finance transactions submitted to GTS counters, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with applicable rules and policies.
  • Ensure adherence to ICC rules, GTS FIM, internal controls, Group Compliance Policy, sanctions requirements and Financial Crime Risk standards.
  • Support smooth day-to-day execution of activities across GTS Operations teams, including monitoring workflow tools and managing transaction prioritization.
  • Liaise effectively with COE teams, front-line teams and internal stakeholders to facilitate timely processing and resolution of exceptions.
  • Maintain a strong client-service mindset, ensuring delivery of a superior customer experience within agreed service standards.
  • Drive productivity improvements while maintaining quality and control discipline.
  • Escalate risks, issues and control gaps appropriately, and support remediation actions where required.
  • Contribute to operational service delivery that enables growth of the Trade business and supports profitability objectives.

  • GTS Operations / COE teams
  • Front-line / Client Management teams
  • Compliance, Financial Crime, Sanctions, Risk and Internal Control teams
  • External clients (as required for transaction clarification and servicing)

Qualifications and experience

  • Graduate / Post-graduate; MBA preferred
  • 56 years experience in trade finance operations, with at least 2 years in an approver/authorizer role.
  • Strong understanding of trade finance products, ICC rules, FEMA and RBI guidelines; CDCS preferred.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with confidence engaging clients and internal departments.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with basic knowledge of common applications such as MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Power BI, Python, etc

Additional Information

  • Mandatory to successfully complete Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions training and post-course assessment, as required.
