Job Description:

Reporting to and working closely with our Group Controlling function in Geneva, the Accounting and Finance Manager will be based in our Madrid office.

The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining complete and accurate financial records of our Madrid office and ensuring compliance with all local administrative and legal requirements.

The Accounting and Finance Manager will support the development of the location, serve as a key point of contact for various business leads on site, monitor and report on the performance of those businesses, and lead projects relevant to the role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be the key point of contact for local business leads to support their business needs, incl. performance monitoring and reporting.

  • Manage regular accounting/reporting tasks, incl. office costs monitoring and allocation, reconciliation of purchases ledger, sales ledger, general ledger, intercompany balances, bank movement, loans movement and review of the IS, BS and CF.

  • Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, if any, and liaison with the centralised Consolidation and Reporting team;

  • Ensure data and process integrity, incl. the monitoring of key financial risks (credit, sales, tax and regulatory compliance);

  • Manage payments and bank balances reconciliations;

  • Manage the proper application of existing transfer pricing arrangements, incl. intercompany reconciliations and inter-company recharges to the Group entities;

  • Ensure the performance of month-end closing activities in accordance with Group guidelines. Prepare and submit monthly balance sheet and P&L reporting, and reporting on an ad hoc basis;

  • Leading the statutory financial statements preparation and /year-end audit.

  • Participate in improvement projects, incl. the implementation of a new CRM software.

  • Liaison with the Treasury team for the processing of invoices and payments.

  • Liaison with the Tax team and provision of assistance for the annual corporate income tax returns, and any other tax related matters.

  • Liaison with internal teams, i.e. Legal, Corporate, Treasury, M&A and Controlling, for coordination of new transactions/projects involving Spain.

  • Provide input to Management as required.

Profile

  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices, knowledge of local GAAP and IFRS.

  • CA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent accounting certification is required.

  • 5 years minimum experience in international companies or audit firm.

  • Experience in oil&gas, oil distribution & marketing.

  • Experience in dealing with local authorities and administrative agencies and familiar with local legislation

  • Proactivity, willingness to take initiatives.

  • Ability to work independently while fostering team work with colleagues from other international offices.

  • High degree of integrity and sincerity and the ability to inspire confidence.

  • Ability to understand complex situations with good eye for details.

  • Native Spanish & fluent English.
