Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Asset Valuation/Appraisal Analyst to join a well-established organisation in Muscat, Oman, specialising in asset-backed financing and transportation (marine vessels, aircraft, and vehicles). This is a full-time, on-site position offering the opportunity to take ownership of the valuation process for a high-value, international portfolio of assets throughout their entire lifecycle.

As Asset Valuation/Appraisal Analyst, you will deliver independent, robust and well-documented valuations that directly support financing, chartering, sales, insurance, legal and taxation requirements in a commercially focused and fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed valuations of marine vessels, aircraft and specialist vehicles using market, income and cost approaches.
  • Build and maintain discounted cash flow (DCF) models, comparable transaction analysis, market multiples and LTV monitoring frameworks.
  • Continuously track asset values and Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratios over the life of each deal.
  • Critically review and challenge valuation reports prepared by external appraisers.
  • Conduct in-depth market research: analyse broker reports, industry surveys (Clarksons, Fearnleys, ASCEND, IBA, etc.), transaction databases and economic indicators.
  • Establish and manage relationships with leading appraisal firms in key shipping and aviation hubs to obtain official reports and market intelligence.
  • Prepare clear, professional valuation reports and presentations for internal committees, lenders, insurers and regulators.
  • Ensure full compliance with IFRS 13, IVS/RICS Red Book and other relevant valuation standards.
  • Coordinate with deal teams, legal, insurance and finance colleagues to gather required data.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-7 years of direct valuation experience, with a strong focus on transportation assets (marine vessels and/or aircraft essential; vehicles a plus).
  • Advanced financial modelling skills (DCF, sensitivity/scenario analysis, LTV waterfalls) in Excel; familiarity with valuation platforms or databases is highly desirable.
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Naval Architecture, Aeronautical Engineering, Shipping, Actuarial Science or related discipline. Relevant professional valuation qualifications (CVA, AVA, MRICS – Valuation, or similar) are a strong advantage.
  • Proven ability to research and interpret shipping/aviation market data and transaction evidence.
  • Excellent report-writing and presentation skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Professional working proficiency in English (mandatory); fluency in French and/or Spanish is a significant advantage.
  • Prior experience gained at a valuation/appraisal firm, ship-owner/operator, airline, leasing company, investment/corporate bank, Big-4 or insurance company is highly regarded.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for asset inspections.
