Full Job Description

Goodman Masson are supporting a well-established, growth-focused Private Equity firm in the search for a Finance Associate to join its London-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to gain broad, hands-on exposure across fund and management company finance within a high-performing, close-knit environment.

The role is broad and varied, offering exposure to fund accounting, investor reporting, valuations and transaction support. Working closely with senior finance leaders and investment professionals, the successful candidate will develop a deep understanding of Private Equity operations and contribute meaningfully across both fund and management company structures.

This position would suit someone with strong technical fundamentals, intellectual curiosity and a proactive mindset, who is keen to continue developing within a fast-paced, collaborative investment environment. The firm offers clear scope for learning, responsibility and long-term progression.

Responsibilities:

  • Support fund accounting and investor reporting processes in collaboration with third-party administrators, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery;
  • Assist with management company accounting, including bank reconciliations, journal postings and oversight of accounts payable and receivable;
  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes across management entities;
  • Assist in the quarterly valuation process for portfolio investments, working closely with senior finance and investment stakeholders;
  • Support the investment process by partnering with investment professionals on financial and transactional activity;
  • Assist with the preparation of regulatory and tax filings, including VAT and regulatory returns;
  • Prepare and review periodic investor reporting and supporting analysis;
  • Maintain and manage portfolio company data to ensure accuracy and consistency;
  • Support ad-hoc projects across both fund and management company structures;
  • Assist with year-end financial statement preparation and audit processes for funds and management entities.

As part of a lean team, the role offers wide exposure and will suit someone comfortable operating beyond a narrow finance remit when required.

Key Skills:

  • Studying towards a recognised accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA);
  • Strong academic background (2:1 degree or higher preferred);
  • Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles;
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads effectively;
  • Analytical and intellectually curious, with the ability to learn new concepts and processes quickly;
  • Confident communicator, able to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong Excel capability, with good working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word;
  • Flexible, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of tasks beyond core accounting responsibilities;
  • Genuine interest in working within an investment-led, Private Equity environment.

Benefits:

  • Full study support towards a relevant accounting qualification;
  • Comprehensive benefits package including private medical, dental and long-term health cover.
