OPERATIONAL RISK

The Operational Risk Department at Goldman Sachs is an independent risk management function responsible for developing and implementing a standardized framework to identify, measure, and monitor operational risk across the firm..

THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

This Associate, Operational Resilience role is for a professional with subject matter expertise dedicated to actively employ and strengthen the components of the firm’s operational risk management framework.  This role will be responsible to continuously identify, monitor, measure and assess the firm’s global operational resilience landscape.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the European regulatory authorities’ approach to operational resilience, regional nuances and requirements, with a specific focus on the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and support integrating those expectations into the operational resilience framework
  • Support the ICT Risk Control Officer function in overseeing the ICT Risk Management Framework (RMF) and in creating the annual ICT RMF review report
  • Support execution of the firm’s Operational Resilience framework for the European legal entities of Goldman Sachs
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) to ensure adherence to established standards and regulatory requirements
  • Manage firmwide tests of recovery strategies encompassing home working environment, recovery site, and function handover.
  • Support resilience planning uplift activities to ensure they are executed on time against regulatory deadlines and with the expected level of quality
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of qualitative and quantitative operational resilience metrics, monitoring triggers, escalations, and mitigating actions
  • Analyze the firm’s adherence to various regulatory requirements and frameworks for Operational Resilience
  • Support preparation of materials for regulatory deliverables and internal/external audits related to Operational Resilience
  • Monitor operational resilience events and data collection including reporting when necessary; conduct detailed reviews of trends to identify significant risks and ensure monitoring and remediation
  • Identify and drive initiatives that improve the operational risk management activities at the firm
  • Prepare and present commercially effective strategies to Operational Risk senior management and business stakeholders

     

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • 3 to 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Understanding of key flows and functions of a global Investment Bank
  • Understanding of the operational resilience regulatory environment globally with focus in the European Union and Switzerland, including Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) requirements
  • Experience in Business Continuity Management
  • Experience in Information Security Management will be a significant asset
  • Experience in setting strategy and working with cross organization working groups to implement strategy
  • Strong client / stakeholder management skills with strong interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong delivery focus
