Internal Audit, Asia COO / Business Manager, Vice President, Hong Kong

 

The Internal Audit (IA) Regional Chief Operating Officer (COO) in Asia is a pivotal leadership role, offering strategic support, insight, and operational oversight to the senior regional management team. This position is instrumental in elevating the Asia IA by strategically coordinating its operations across diverse functional, geographic, and cultural teams. The COO will drive the implementation of global strategic initiatives, champion regional requirements, optimize the operational model, and enhance the IA brand throughout the Asia region.

Key Responsibilities:

 

I. Strategic Leadership & Operational Vision

 

  • Regional Strategy & Footprint Optimization: Lead the development and coordinate with global department on the IA Asia regional strategy, including optimizing the IA footprint, determining headcount requirements by location and risk coverage, and establishing an optimal organizational pyramid for the region. 
  • Strategic Initiative Implementation: Drive the implementation of global strategic initiatives within the Asia region, ensuring that regional needs and requirements are effectively integrated.
  • Process Redesign & Optimization: Provide oversight for the redesign of processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and resilience across the Asia IA department. COO needs to leverage the deep understanding to streamline and optimize operations and identify strategic value adding opportunity to drive process changes.
  • Business Operations Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day operational aspects of the IA Asia department, including budget, travel and expense, vendor relationships and Contingent Worker management, real estate considerations, and coordinate Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and resiliency efforts for the region, ensuring robust preparedness and response capabilities. The COO ensures that business operations run efficiently to achieve the organization's strategic goals. 
  • Non-Audit Functions Oversight: Provide broad oversight to ensure synergy and optimization across all non-audit teams, including business operations and reporting teams. This involves ensuring that these functions operate cohesively and efficiently to support the overall departmental objectives.

 

II. People & Culture Development

 

  • Learning & Development (L&D) Vision: Set the strategic vision for regional Learning & Development based on the evolving needs of the people within the Asia IA department. This will be done in close partnership with the global IA L&D Team and the Asia Human Capital Management (HCM) team. The COO plays a critical role in fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Talent Acquisition & Management Strategy: Drive the vision for talent acquisition and management within the region, aligning with the overall footprint strategy. This includes managing headcount (through collaboration with functional BUMs and BU Heads) and facilitating hiring to support a sound footprint strategy. Oversight of on/offboarding processes is also a key responsibility. Intern and campus recruitment are integral to this strategy, serving as important branding initiatives for IA.
