Role Overview 

As a Vice President in the PB Risk team based in Hong Kong, you will be manage the risk profile of our Prime Brokerage clients across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Oversight: Monitor and manage the market and credit risk of complex hedge fund portfolios, ensuring leverage is optimized in line with firm-wide risk appetite and client financing needs.
  • Margin Policy: Design and implement predictable and stable margin policies for a wide range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, and derivatives.
  • Client Engagement: Act as a primary risk contact for senior hedge fund managers, providing intuitive risk management analytics and advising on portfolio construction and stress testing.
  • Strategic Optimization: Partner with the Strategist (Strats) and Engineering teams to enhance risk platforms, utilizing intraday analytics to understand capital and regulatory risk cost drivers.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all risk management activities comply with regional regulatory requirements (e.g., HKMA, SFC) and internal "Fortress Balance Sheet" standards.
  • Leadership: Mentor junior analysts and associates, fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and continuous learning.
     

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

  • Experience: Proven experience in risk management, prime brokerage, or a related quantitative field within a global financial institution.
  • Education: Strong academic background in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Finance).
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced understanding of risk measures (VaR, Greeks, Stress Testing) and the trade lifecycle. Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for data analysis is highly preferred.
  • Market Knowledge: Deep expertise in APAC markets and products, particularly Equity Derivatives and Synthetic Products (e.g., Equity Swaps).
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex risk concepts to non-technical stakeholders and clients.
  • Language: Proficiency in English is required; fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese would be advantage.
