Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all areas of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. Alongside this vital service delivery role, Operations provides essential risk management and control, preserving and enhancing the firm’s assets and its reputation. Operations span all product lines and markets, serving as internal business partners who develop the processes and controls, and help to specify the systems that deliver accuracy, timeliness and integrity to our business. 

Commodities Operations is responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate transaction processing across a broad range of products. Generally, the products supported are complex instruments that require close alignment with the business. A key focus for the organization is establishing strong risk management procedures and controls to ensure the firm and our clients are properly protected. Commodities Operations is at the forefront of shaping and driving change in the industry with the ultimate aim of delivering greater accuracy, control and efficiency for our clients and our business. 
 

The Gas & Power Logistics team is responsible for managing the physical aspects of our US Power, Renewables and Carbon business. In addition to its core physical scheduling role, the team also manages the firm’s physical assets and inventories and coordinates projects to facilitate access to new markets and products. 

The team is responsible for timely & accurate submission of nomination and notification data to the respective System/Market Operators, ensuring the information held by each, reflects our physical positions. Additionally, the team maintains a close relationship with our traders and sales teams, providing support to optimize the commercial opportunities. As our business grows so does our involvement in new procedures, processes and IT systems, required to ensure a high level of control and risk management is maintained. 

The Gas & Power Logistics team works closely with other members of the Operations teams, Sales & Trading and Legal and many other areas, including Controllers, Technology, Tax & Credit. Externally, the group maintains relationships with Market & System Operators, Trading Counterparts and Industry Associations. 

As a member of the Gas & Power Logistics Team, the successful applicant will be expected to gain a broad knowledge of all our markets and eventually take responsibility for developing the Business as we enter new markets and trade new products. 

Responsibilities: 
• To ensure we are in compliance with all regulatory requirements in the US Power business. 
• Create and maintain vendor oversight procedures. 
• Oversight and relationship management with outsourced vendor. 
• Contract negotiation and review. 
• GS liaison with vendor/s for operational support of new business. 
• Nominating power, renewables and carbon positions to relevant Market/System Operators. 
• Ensuring counterparty and Operator submitted data reflects our trading positions. 
• Providing Traders & Sales Teams with timely and accurate market data. 
• Participate in ongoing development of the procedures & processes in order to support the business. 
• Project Management to facilitate trading in new markets and products including external interfaces and internal IT system enhancements. 
• Interfacing with Legal, Compliance, Credit, IT, Tax & relevant external bodies.

Basic Qualifications:

• BS/BA Degree. 
• At least 2 years of professional experience. 
• Physical Electricity, Renewables and Carbon scheduling or equivalent experience in the North American markets 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Accuracy and attention to detail. 
• Work well under pressure and meet deadlines. 
• Ability to learn quickly in a fast moving environment. 
• Strong technical and analytical skills. 
• Team oriented approach – openness and good communication skills within the team and the ability to work across functions inside
and outside of Operations. 
• Innovation, able to suggest & implement ideas to complement & develop new processes as they evolve with the business. 
• Self-motivated to manage projects and seek opportunities to enhance business benefit. 
• Focus on control issues, processes and procedures. 

Salary Range 
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $70000-$95000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
