Equities Engineers focus on designing, developing and maintaining the global infrastructure which underpins Equities sales and trading at Goldman Sachs. These engineers work across a variety of problem domains and software stacks to create leverage in our various Equities cash and derivatives business lines. These problem spaces include:

  • High-throughput, low latency order management and electronic trading platform
  • Client Connectivity of all clients to the various GS platform via FIX
  • Exchange Connectivity of all the various Asia Exchanges using native exchange protocol for trading connectivity and market data connectivity
  • Adaptable algorithmic trading platforms
  • Smart Order Routing and Internalization Trading Platform
  • Adaptive, robust trading controls
  • Workflow management platforms
  • Pricing, risk and booking systems

How You Will Fulfill Your Potential

  • Platform feature development across the execution stack (order management, client connectivity, exchange connectivity, algorithmic trading, smart order routing, trading controls)
  • Building and maintaining core technical infrastructure for high-performance, low-latency trading systems
  • Execution stack hygiene and governance including system capacity, resilience, and BCP exercises
  • SDLC efficiency improvements and engineering automation
  • Test engineering and quality assurance

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For

  • Solid industry experience programming in Java and/or C++
  • Clear understanding of algorithms and data structures
  • Familiarity with core programming concepts and techniques (e.g. concurrency, memory management)
  • Experience developing in a Linux or UNIX environment
  • Ability to independently gather requirements, design technical specifications, and architect robust solutions
  • Strong analytical skills to identify root causes and evaluate strategic solutions for complex technical challenges
  • Familiarity with common design patterns, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and Agile methodologies
  • Comfort with standard SDLC tools, e.g. version control systems, diff-ing tools
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and driven individual with high degree of attention to detail
  • Experience with several of the following:
    • Low latency development
    • OMS development
    • Real-time systems
    • Large-scale distributed systems
    • Event-sourced systems or sequencer-based architecture
    • Test engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree / Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
  • Experience in a hands-on front-office development role
  • Cash equities execution knowledge or electronic trading domain expertise
  • Strong ability to assess system-wide impact of platform changes, ensuring architectural consistency, integrity, and adherence to enterprise standards
  • Track record of mentoring junior engineers and driving technical excellence within a team
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with business stakeholders (traders, sales, operations, compliance)
  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical strategy and roadmap for platform components
  • Demonstrated passion for improving code quality, maintainability, and system reliability
  • Good knowledge of performance tuning for low latency and GC-free real-time operation
  • Linux systems programming experience including memory management, concurrent programming infrastructure, and the networking stack
