Global Markets Fixed Income, Currency, and Commodities (FICC) Technology plays a key role in the firms ability to help institutional clients buy and sell financial instruments on liquidity venues around the world, an important revenue driver for the firm. In FICC Technology we use both open-source industry standard and internal proprietary technologies to build cutting edge platforms for pricing, execution, and control over each of these millions of transactions.

The ideal candidate will be partnering with technologists, strategists, traders and salespeople in the Goldman Sachs FICC trading environment. Candidate will be primarily responsible for design, development, and managing the production environment of trade automation systems.

Structured Products Technology

Our FICC Structured Products business is focused on providing clients with customized pre-package investments tailored to individual client needs.  A global business, our offerings span across the Interest Rates, Credit, and Foreign Exchange trading desks of the Goldman Sachs Global Markets - FICC Division.  

The FICC Structured Products Technology team interacts directly with Trading and Sales to develop trading systems to achieve their business goals.  Its a dynamic environment where individuals with strong development and interpersonal skills gain a unique insight into how financial markets work and use this knowledge to work alongside Trading and Sales to deliver technical solutions.  Development work will be primarily in Java and GSs object-oriented database (SecDB) using our in house object oriented scripting language (Slang), there will also be numerous opportunities to work with a wide range of cutting edge technologies.

Our team of engineers build solutions to various complex problems. We provide the systems and tools for the global FICC Structured Products business to trade, to manage their risk, and to generate trade ideas.
 

Your Impact

We are seeking a hands-on Java developer to join the FICC Structured Products Technology team in Hong Kong and lead the trade automation efforts within front office. The role will involve working on a wide range of projects focusing on Trading and Sales system workflow development and automation, along with new business development.

The candidate will directly experience the impact of their work as they see the global FICC Structured Products business use their systems on a daily basis.
 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Quantitative Finance, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a significant focus on electronic trading systems, large-scale distributed platforms, and automation solutions.
  • Strong programming skills in Java (commercial experience preferred).
  • Excellent object-oriented analysis and design skills.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with real-time data processing, distributed systems, and multi-threaded programming.
  • Understanding of FICC derivatives products, financial markets, and trading workflows, particularly in pricing, quoting, and lifecycle automation.
  • Familiarity with automated testing, DevOps, and Continuous Deployment practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, including experience speaking to technical and business audiences and working globally.
  • Comfortable multi-tasking, managing multiple stakeholders, and working as part of a global team. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in NoSQL data stores, e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB, or Elastic.
  • Experience in modern message-oriented middleware, e.g., Kafka.
  • Experience in debugging complex distributed systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for trading infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with kdb+/Q or other time-series databases.
  • Experience working directly with trading and sales users and converting their requirements into actionable solutions.
