Murrin Murrin Operations has an opportunity for a Operations Superintendent to join our established and dedicated team in our Process Plant.

Murrin Murrin Operations is Australias largest cobalt producer and a major world producer of nickel. Our Murrin Murrin site in WAs northern Goldfields is an integrated nickel and cobalt mining and processing operation employing over 1,000 people. We are a diverse, dedicated and driven workforce, building a sustainable business today with a focus on tomorrow.

Murrin Murrin Operations is wholly owned by Glencore, one of the worlds largest globally diversified natural resources companies and a major producer and marketer of more than 60 commodities. Glencore employs over 145,000 people operates around 150 operating mining and processing sites, oil production assets and agricultural facilities in over 35 countries.

The Role

The successful person will become a member of a hardworking and committed team who are responsible for producing and implementing a successful plan to align production capability and plant utilisation across our processing plant

You will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring production targets are achieved and the plant is operated and maintained in a safe and environmentally responsible manner;
  • Achieving operating budgets by assisting in maintaining the lowest cost of production;
  • Ensuring production Departments are operating cohesively to achieve sustainable operation
  • When on N/S, be responsible for all plant based operations, including shared resource reallocation on priority break downs
  • Monitoring the systems, business processes and harnessing opportunities for improvement to increase production;
  • Assisting Line Managers with implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects; and
  • Developing continuous improvement targets for the function and drive, and measure achievement of these targets.

About You


This role would suit a technically competent and driven production specialist ideally looking for a new challenge in our multifaceted processing plant.

You will also have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Metallurgy (preferred);
  • Previous experience in a similar role leading a team in line with Quality, Safety, Environmental, Budgeting and the Mines Safety and Inspection Act;
  • A strong drive in the area of continuous improvement with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • A high-level understanding of and Regulations; Permit to Work, High Risk Work, Risk Assessment tools and maintenance management systems;
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate work place accident and incidents. and the ICAM investigation process; and
  • A current & valid manual drivers licence.
