The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Mill Technician to join our Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations in Greater Sudbury, Ontario.

The position will be based in Onaping, Greater Sudbury, Ontario. 

This is a full-time, unionized position.

Rate of Pay: $43.62 per hour plus applicable bonuses.

This position is being posted to fill an existing vacancy.

Work location is not accessible by public transportation. 

Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. We encourage early applications.  

Duties and Accountabilities

Reporting to the Mill Process Development and Environmental Engineer, the Technician II- Process Development (Mill) plans, carries out and reports on laboratory, pilot plant and plant studies to improve metal recovery, increase the grades of the concentrates or reduce the cost of production at the Strathcona Mill. He/she plans tests, establishes procedures for laboratory, pilot plant or plant tests and carries out the test work. The incumbent will analyze the results of tests and write reports to his/her supervisor.

Education and Skills

Community college graduation in a three-year diploma program in metallurgical or chemical technology, or the equivalent in education and experience, plus at least three years experience in a mineral processing plant or research and development laboratory are the requirements. The ability to organize and coordinate investigations in laboratory pilot plant and production plant settings should have been demonstrated.
