Murrin Murrin Operations has an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician Power Station to join our established and dedicated team.


Murrin Murrin Operations is Australias largest cobalt producer and a major world producer of nickel. Our Murrin Murrin site in WAs northern Goldfields is an integrated nickel and cobalt mining and processing operation employing over 1,000 people. We are a diverse, dedicated and driven workforce, building a sustainable business today with a focus on tomorrow.


Murrin Murrin Operations is wholly owned by Glencore, one of the worlds largest globally diversified natural resources companies and a major producer and marketer of more than 60 commodities. Glencore employs over 145,000 people operates around 150 operating mining and processing sites, oil production assets and agricultural facilities in over 35 countries.


The Role

The successful person will become a member of a hardworking and committed team who are responsible for performing planned maintenance, reactive breakdown maintenance and shutdown work across our Utilities Department.

You will be responsible for:
  • The planned and preventative maintenance and repairs for a vast array of equipment, including:
    • Gas turbines, Steam turbines & Gas fired boilers;
    • Various HP and LP multi stage, positive displacement feedwater pumps and associated pipework and valve assemblys
    • Blowers, compressors, tanks and pressure vessels
  • You will also ensure safety and permit to work systems and procedures are adhered to; and
  • Have the ability to work un-supervised

About You

This role would suit an experienced Turbine Technician with well-practiced problem solving skills and ideally with previous experience working in a complex hydrometallurgical process plant.

You will also have:

  • A Trade or Engineering related disciplined qualification;
  • Previous experience working within a power, water and/or gas plant
  • Thorough understanding and/or previous experience with some of our on-site power generation asset troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of:
    • GE LM2500+DLE Gas Turbines
    • Siemens V40A Steam Turbines
    • Single stage RLHB24 Coppus Turbines
    • Various Caterpillar and Cummins diesel black start generators
    • Various multi-stage, positive displacement water pumps and diaphragm dosing pumps
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office; and
  • A valid and current Manual Drivers Licence.
