The Role 
We are looking for a qualified Electrician to join the High Voltage (HV) department where your primary responsibility involves maintaining one of Qld largest privately owned HV Networks. We are heavily customer focused on providing constant power to operational teams and other off-takers, while also being able to maintain the HV network to a high standard, ensuring the highest level of safety. The role tasks include routine maintenance of electrical equipment, breakdown works, installation/replacement of electrical equipment within switchyards and substations, problem diagnosis and predictive maintenance jobs. You will also have a flexible attitude and sound work ethic, have excellent time management skills and the ability to achieve results within the specified time frames. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • High voltage equipment testing and commissioning within on 132kV/ 33kV/ 11kV/ 3.3kV reticulation systems
  • Maintenance electrical infrastructure including battery charges, maintenance of switchboards, power transformers, circuit breakers and other indoor/outdoor HV switchyards switchgear
  • Assisting with switching operations within the HV network
  • Maintaining the power distribution network, ensuring safe and reliable operation
  • Attending to breakdown repairs within the HV network

About You: 

  • Hold Electrical trade qualification with the ability to obtain a Queensland Electrical license
  • Hold a current manual drivers licence
  • A sound understanding of workplace Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)
  • Experience in the HV and mining industry
  • Possess excellent troubleshooting & problem-solving skills
  • Flexible approach and adaptable to change with high attention to detail
  • Demonstrate ability to work well in a team environment
  • Protection relay testing experience is preferable
  • Switchboard maintenance, commissioning and testing
  • Experience in testing & commissioning of large and small power transformers
  • Experience in maintaining & testing indoor and outdoor switchgear
  • HV Cable jointing and termination experience is preferable
  • Training and upskilling will be provided for the following- HVIA- High Voltage Initiation Access, EWP Elevated Work Platform, Rigger, HR- Heavy Rigid, Forklift, Cable Joining, VLC Vehicle Loading Crane
