Position Description:
Designs, develops, and maintains Java/J2EE and Node.JS based applications in an Agile environment. Implements front-end solutions using JavaScript, Typescript, CSS, HTML, and Browser Developer. Performs DevOps, automated testing, and applies Continuous Delivery (CD) methodologies, using Groovy and Jenkins. Performs troubleshooting and performance tuning and provides production support and maintenance of existing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Works on Relational (MySQL and PostgreSQL) and Non-Relational (MongoDB) databases. Provides business solutions by developing complex, multi-faceted software applications. Researches and recommends new technologies in support of the strategic direction of the business and participates in the research and recommendation of appropriate models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve business-wide solutions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Translates and incorporates business vision and architectural strategy recommendations at the functional level.
- Participates in high-level, cross-functional architecture design teams.
- Identifies and consults with internal and external technical resources to produce cross-company strategic designs.
- Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or company architectural components.
- Initiates and drives project or strategy discussions with users or external groups to resolve issues.
- Sets vision, goals, and direction for team and organization.
- Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives.
- Provides leadership, technical supervision, and expertise to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Researches and recommends new technologies.
- Collaborates to identify opportunities for organization-wide technology initiatives.
- Provides guidance, training, and coaching to team members for performance and career development.
- Identifies and plans for future resource needs.
- Determines technical approaches at a strategic level for the organization.
- Applies a strong understanding of design patterns to develop and implement scalable, maintainable solutions for complex business requirements.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Software Engineering (or closely related occupation) designing and developing resilient full-stack Java, distributed, and event-driven applications.
Or, alternatively, Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Software Engineering (or closely related occupation) designing and developing resilient full-stack Java, distributed, and event-driven applications.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (DE) performing mid-tier service development for application custom configuration, Personally identifiable information (PII) data masking, authentication, and filtering, using a Lightweight Container (LWC) performant framework; and creating custom libraries to implement feature management with toggling, role-based header configuration, and fault tolerance, using Dropwizard, executor services, OpenTelemetry (OTEL), Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP), and Drools.
- DE converting monolithic application to microservices using Keel Java framework; and defining and creating topology diagrams and evaluating the performance and Central Processing Unit (CPU) metrics of connected systems, using Micronaut, polyglot, http/Netty, Ahead-of-Time (AOT) compilation, and Testcontainers.
- DE developing and deploying containerized applications, using Kubernetes Application Developer (KAD) and Kubernetes on Cloud platforms; and enhancing the Kubernetes application deployment framework for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) workflow and maintaining blue-green and canary release strategies, using Elixir for auto-rehydration, and Datadog and Splunk for observability monitoring and data analytics.
- DE performing business requirements design and solutioning for Alternative Investments, Crypto Trading, Fincentric integration, and Mainframe Modernization, using a Business Model Evolution (BME) model.
