About Finance
The Finance department operates on a global basis with a local presence in key markets supported by shared service centres. The Group Chief Financial Officer has overall responsibility for all aspects of finance, reporting to Fidelity Internationals CEO. There are a number of distinct teams contributing to the overall CFO function. These currently include Finance, Procurement, Treasury, Corporate Property Services and Strategy and Planning. Finance includes group functions in Financial Control, Reporting and Analysis as well as regional or channel based teams.
The Chief Financial Officers oversee the finance functions for their respective regions, working on a day-to-day basis with their regional management teams. Responsibilities include business partnering, the financial accounting for Fidelitys legal entities, and the provision of management information, capital planning and management, monitoring of financial controls, and ensuring compliance with the requirements of the relevant regulators across each region.
Group Finance has overall responsibility for the consolidation of the group results.
Fidelity in Europe currently operates in UK, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, France, Austria, Central Europe, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The region also currently has responsibility for Latin American and North America.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to support Fidelitys distribution business in all Europen countries listed above A key element of the role will be business partnering with the executive business heads of the regional distribution teams. The incumbent will be expected to support the Europe businesses and the overall Finance department by:
Business partnering with the executive business heads across Europe. This will include supporting all senior management in understanding the drivers of their business to improve business performance. The role covers pricing, management reporting, client analysis, data validation, cost control and ad hoc analysis. Gaining an understanding of all aspects of Fidelitys business will be a key building block for success in this role.
Managing and developing the team of four direct reports. This team is responsible for business support, including data correctness, reporting, budgeting and analysis for the Europe distribution business. This may also include providing statutory and regulatory financial information internally and to regulators. The team is currently located in the UK and Luxembourg,
Managing the delivery of business finance services to the Europe business liaising with a number of other Finance teams in other locations.
Working with the support teams in India and China
Ensuring the correct structure, focus and capability of the ISS EMEA Business Finance team
Proactive support to the Global Distribution CFO and be a key leader in the Business Finance team.
The role will involve some travel including to India and Luxembourg, as the incumbent will be expected to gain an understanding of Fidelitys wider business model and contribute to global Finance projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the expectations of, and deliverables to, key customers including the Global Distribution CFO, the IM CFO and key business colleagues
Provide business finance support and guidance to senior internal customers
Manage and prioritise the workload of the business finance team and working with the India team
Be a key member of the Europe Finance team, contributing to the success of the overall team
Set the objectives for and support the personal development of all team members
Ensure all standard deliverables are turned out on time, to a consistently high quality
Provide regular forecasts for all areas of the distribution business P&L.
Ensure, where possible, that reporting is consistent across Europe and globally aligned
Ensure, where possible, that reporting drives decision making, rather than just being used as a review of past performance
Ensure that costs recharged from support functions to the distribution business units are materially correct and work with support functions to ensure that their cost drivers and allocations are clear and appropriate
Identify and agree cost savings, efficiencies and productivity enhancing opportunities within Europe
Contribute to design and implementation of processes and procedures including project governance, procurement and cost management
Understand and analyse the monthly management accounts, in the context of business developments, to identify trends and ensure there is follow up action as appropriate
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of information systems
Work with other Fidelity groups to verify and agree inter-departmental charges and assist in other finance issues.
Ensure all ad hoc deliverables are turned out to expectation or higher in a timely fashion
Responsible for the construction and reporting against a fit-for-purpose Europe budget and rolling forecast
Produce Board and exec reporting for a number of senior committees
Play a vital role in the Finance transition strategy
Experience and Qualifications Required
Wide range of experience at a senior management level, within a complex, matrixed environment. Knowledge/experience of the asset management industry would be highly advantageous
Demonstrable experience of managing staff from different cultural backgrounds across different locations and a sensitivity to cultural norms and diversity
Demonstrable experience building and managing high performing teams, with evidence of a staff development ethos
A strong and current understanding of the Europe regulatory environment is preferred
Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the capability to influence, challenge and liaise at all levels within the organisation
Senior level presence, with the capability to build credibility and gain trust and respect at senior management levels both within Fidelity and externally
Must be numerate, with advanced analytical skills, capable of designing and producing analysis and translating that analysis into a business story
Proactive focus and depth of thought is required with a can-do attitude. Individual must possess the ability to anticipate requirements, obstacles and have plans to address them
Proven ability to manage and resolve complex issues
