About your team

India Tax and Finance team is responsible for controllership of India domestic entities for both FIL and Eight Roads and their respective holding companies based in Mauritius. The team is responsible for not only maintaining book-keeping but for other statutory and regulatory compliances as well including taxation,

SEZ, exchange control and other applicable compliances.

Teams activity includes:

  • Controllership - Month close activities, Balance Sheet schedules, preparation of year end financial statements and statutory audit, cross functional projects
  • Direct and Indirect taxation compliances - Corporate tax, transfer pricing, Goods and Service tax, litigation management
  • Treasury - Liquidity Management, Cash Repatriation, Exchange control compliances, as applicable and payments to vendors and employees
  • Regulatory Compliances - SEZ reporting, Indian Companies House amongst others
  • Tax Support CoE - Managing group tax compliances, VAT return of overseas entities, Country by Country Reporting including Master File, supporting group tax team in Group year end, financial data assimilation for filing tax return across all regions

About your role
The role will mainly be responsible for VAT compliance work as stipulated by the FIL VAT team, including country-by-country reconciliations and year-end work for the statutory auditors. The incumbent would report to Manager - India Tax and Finance and will work closely with Senior Indirect Tax Manager in FIL Group VAT team.

The key activities involved, amongst others, consist of the below:

  • Preparation of Group VAT returns
  • Preparation / reviewing of journals and adjustments
  • Preparation of Financial Stats Survey
  • Ensure that returns are filed within statutory timelines on the relevant platforms (ROS, HMRC portal and etc)
  • Review of return wherein it is prepared by external consultants or other team members
  • Updating compliance tool - Smart Business Insight Suite when returns are completed
  • Review of VAT tax account balance sheet reconciliations
  • Liaising with internal team for automation of returns
  • Liaising with external consultants for potential in-sourcing of returns
  • Lead the automation projects in VAT returns
  • Changes required on accounting ERP tool and its testing
  • Handling queries related to VAT on invoices
  • Involvement in Group VAT projects
  • Awareness of evolving regulatory and VAT tax regulations
  • Ability to handle pressure and support other team members, wherever required
  • Other adhoc duties

About you

Below are the experience and Qualifications Required for this role

  • CA/CA Inter with 4-5 years of industry experience in overseas VAT, indirect taxation including process automation
  • Sound taxation knowledge, detail oriented and good with numbers
  • Attitude to learn.
  • Strong analytical skills including knowledge of accounting principles and processes;
  • Skills to show attention to detail and an appetite to dive into issues in depth as needed;
  • Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office software packages; Proficient with Microsoft Excel;
  • Knowledge of Hyperion SmartView, Oracle EPM system, PowerBI, Tableau and Power Automate will be a plus
  • Collaborative approach to develop, share, accept and implementation of ideas
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute towards team goals, but equally able to work independently and deliver results
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks against tight deadlines, able to prioritise and organise effectively
  • Ability to grasp new concepts, assimilate information and deliver high quality solutions at speed
  • Resilient, energetic, and enthusiastic approach
  • Ability to cope with sustained pressure
