About us

At ExxonMobil, our vision is to lead in energy innovations that advance modern living and a net-zero future. As one of the worlds largest publicly traded energy and chemical companies, we are powered by a unique and diverse workforce fueled by the pride in what we do and what we stand for.

The success of our Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses is the result of the talent, curiosity and drive of our people. They bring solutions every day to optimize our strategy in energy, chemicals, lubricants and lower-emissions technologies.

We invite you to bring your ideas to ExxonMobil to help create sustainable solutions that improve quality of life and meet societys evolving needs. Learn more about our What and our Why and how we can work together.

The Role

ExxonMobils Americas Gas & Power Trading group is looking for a Natural Gas Trader to join our West Region Book, reporting directly to West Book Lead. This is a seat at one of the largest energy companies in the world, with access to a physical asset base, supply portfolio, and market intelligence that independent trading houses simply cannot replicate. You will be responsible for trading physical natural gas across the Western U.S. market - managing daily cash and forward positions, building and optimizing term deals, analyzing supply/demand fundamentals, and developing counterparty relationships across producers, utilities, pipelines, and end-users. You will work in close coordination with scheduling, risk, and origination and market analytics teams to maximize the value of ExxonMobils West region book.

What Youll Do

  • Execute physical natural gas trades across prompt and near-term markets in the Western U.S., including key hubs and basis markets relevant to the region
  • Manage and optimize physical gas transport and storage assets, ensuring maximum value creation
  • Develop and manage counterparty relationships with producers and end-users
  • Analyze supply/demand fundamentals, pipeline flows, storage, and weather to inform trading strategy
  • Collaborate with scheduling, risk management, origination, and market analytics teams to optimize book positioning
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the West region book in alignment with the broader Americas Gas & Power strategy

What Were Looking For

  • 35 years of experience in physical natural gas trading, scheduling, or commercial roles
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Understanding of Western U.S. gas markets, infrastructure, and basin dynamics
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and commercial instinct
  • Collaborative mindset this role is about building something, not just running a position

Why ExxonMobil

There is no shortage of trading seats in the market. What is rare is a seat backed by the scale, physical assets, and long-term commercial vision that ExxonMobil brings to the table. Our West region gas business is in active growth mode, and the traders who join now will have the opportunity to shape the book, develop deep market expertise, and grow with a business that has the balance sheet, infrastructure access, and counterparty relationships to compete at scale for decades.

This is a role for someone who wants to build a business, develop mastery of a complex regional market, and be part of a team that is expanding its footprint in a meaningful way. ExxonMobil offers competitive total compensation, world-class benefits, and the kind of career continuity and investment in people that most trading shops simply do not offer.
