What does the job involve?

Responsible for crude oil trading and marketing activities in Latin America, serving as the market expert and representing Equinor alongside other traders and global book leads.
Responsibilities include book management, physical and paper trading and use of financial instruments to capture value above market price and development/execution of flexibility, third-party agreements, and transportation capacity (physical and virtual) to maximise returns.

You are utilizing your knowledge to solve complex trading tasks with a medium-term tactical impact/risk. You address key business issues that align with Equinor's short and long-term strategy via providing specialist support and leading complex tasks. You execute and ensure the quality of activities for your department or professional group. You may also lead a professional network and support leaders in shaping the direction for a core strategic competence area. You translate specialized advice into easily understandable information for the entire business and provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders. You manage conflicting agendas, occasionally lead negotiations with senior stakeholders and facilitate decision-making processes. You resolve complex business challenges by developing and implementing new products, processes, and standards. You shape best practices across different areas. You play a key role in managing and implementing critical change initiatives. You provide guidance and influence leaders to deal with uncertainty and embrace change. What will my tasks be?

Within this position, your key tasks will be to:

  • Coordinate the companys trading and marketing activities in Latin America, serving as the primary market expert and representing Equinor alongside other traders and global book leads.

  • Identify and develop Latin American business opportunities in commodities and assets in alignment with the companys global crude strategy, in close coordinating with upstream units.

  • Manage daily operational tasks for the Latin America team, including risk management coordination across global commodity books and execution of trading activities within Equinors global crude trading framework.

  • Develop and execute trading and hedging strategies based on comprehensive market analysis to optimize commercial outcomes within risk mandates.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Chartering, Risk) and actively contribute to local and global discussions to refine market views and trading plans.

  • Thorough expertise with relevant derivative instruments (futures, swaps, etc.) 

  • Extensive knowledge of price concepts & structure, hedging implementation, contractual constraints and legal framework. 

  • Emphasis on teamwork you need to be a team player. 

  • Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills are highly desirable.
