Group Strategic Analytics (GSA) is part of Group Chief Operation Office (COO) which acts as the bridge between the Banks businesses and infrastructure functions to help deliver the efficiency, control, and transformation goals of the Bank.

You will join the Global Quantitative Fixed Income Engineering team which builds applications that deliver quantitatively led pricing and trading solutions for the Rates, Credit and Repo businesses. Our team develops software using modern development practices to create high quality systems that can be iterated on rapidly and safely.

The team works together with the Credit Electronic Trading business and is a small agile team delivering risk, profit and loss (PNL), flow and client quantitative python analytics solutions using self-developed python framework. The business is fully committed to technology as a key differentiator of performance and the partnership with quant strategists is seen as crucial to the future success of the desk.

You will be a motivated self-starter and all-rounder with an aim to grow as a professional with a working understanding of credit markets and the associated credit modelling mathematics, as well as being able to build production quality software applications and reports to tight timescales using appropriate technologies.

You will design, implement and deliver such improvements working together with quants, strats and infrastructure teams in an agile environment to achieve those goals.

Your key responsibilities

  • Drive ongoing development in Python, associated application infrastructure, and tooling, acting as a Subject Matter Expert for the quant and engineering team.
  • Take full responsibility for delivering both business and engineering-driven functional changes to the platform, including KDB deployment, and monitoring.
  • Develop, support, and provide live production support for analytics and research systems, critically assessing business requirements for optimal solutions.
  • Implement flow analysis management information systems (MIS) and reporting (e.g., volumes, market shares, hit rates, client profitability).
  • Support trading decisions through trade analytics and strategy backtesting

Your skills and experience

  • Previous front office investment banking experience in technical roles is preferred but not essential
  • Hands-on expertise in engineering solutions using Python (familiarity with database, pandas and Q/KDB is welcome)
  • Basic Shell scripting experience in a Unix/Linux environment is preferable
  • Quantitative Degree (of any length) incl. computer science / engineering / physics / economics or any degree with quantitative aspects or / and computing / coding.)
  • Experience working with data, both in onboarding, cleaning and curating data in databases as well as analysis and presentation is preferable
  • Experience working with standard Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) tools in a collaborative environment (git/bitbucket/JIRA etc.) is welcome
