Role Description

  • As an Application Owner and release manager you will closely work together with business and operation units as well as development team to gain structural stability of the applications, compliance for technical/risk/policy related processes while managing the technical roadmap of the applications .You will orchestrate the entire software delivery lifecycle, planning and coordinating releases from development to deployment. You would be responsible to define release scope, schedules, and readiness criteria, while managing dependencies and environments. Key responsibilities would include identifying and mitigating risks, resolving issues, and making critical go/no-go decisions. Your Key Responsibilities

  • You ensure/follow-up structural availability, stability and performance of the application on Production and Test environments.
  • You ensure the application’s compliance with Deutsche Bank IT policies (i.e. security monitoring, roadmap compliance, access management-SoD, etc), including availability of all necessary application/service knowledge and documentation
  • You support the Product Owner, Analyst and Scrum Master in terms of application and compliance related topics
  • You facilitate Disaster Recovery activities by reviewing DR plans and coordinating the execution of DR exercise for the application
  • You are responsible for Access and other Infrastructure related topics
  • Working with product owners and stakeholders to understand release goals, features, and desired outcomes.
  • Creating detailed release schedules, timelines, and milestones, including all phases from development to deployment.
  • Identifying and coordinating the necessary resources (people, environments, tools) for each release.
  • Determining and documenting the frequency and type of releases (e.g., major, minor, hotfix).
  • Setting clear criteria that must be met before a release can proceed to the next stage.
  • Overseeing and coordinating all activities across development, QA, operations, and other teams involved in the release process.
  • Tracking progress against the release plan, identifying and addressing any deviations or delays.
  • Identifying and managing dependencies between different teams, components, and systems.
  • Ensuring appropriate test and production environments are available and configured correctly for each release.
  • Go/No-Go Decisions: Facilitating and leading discussions to determine if a release is ready to proceed to the next stage (e.g., UAT, production).
  • Proactively identifying potential risks that could impact the release, such as technical issues, resource constraints, or security vulnerabilities.
  • Creating plans to address identified risks and minimize their impact.
  • Tracking and resolving release-related issues, escalating to appropriate stakeholders when necessary.
  • Post-Release Monitoring- Overseeing the initial monitoring of a release in production to identify and address any immediate issues.
  • Communicating Release Status- Providing regular updates to all stakeholders (management, development teams, product owners, business users) on release progress, risks, and issues.
  • Facilitating Stakeholder Meetings - Leading and participating in release-related meetings, such as release planning, readiness reviews, and post-mortems.
  • Managing Expectations- Setting realistic expectations with stakeholders regarding release scope, timelines, and potential challenges.
  • Creating Release Notes and Documentation- Ensuring comprehensive release notes and relevant documentation are prepared and distributed.
  • Defining and Improving Release Processes - Continuously reviewing and improving the release management process to enhance efficiency, quality, and speed.
  • Implementing and Utilizing Release Tools- Leveraging release automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, and other software to streamline the release process.
  • Ensuring Compliance: Ensure the application’s compliance with Deutsche Bank IT policies (i.e. security monitoring, roadmap compliance, access management-SoD, etc), including availability of all necessary application/service knowledge and documentation.
  • Fostering Collaboration: Promoting effective communication and collaboration between all teams involved in the release process.
  • Mentoring and Guiding Teams: Providing guidance and support to development and QA teams on release best practices.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 9 years’ experience in a in a similar role. ITIL knowledge would be a plus.
  • Basic technical capabilities and infrastructure knowledge (e.g Cloud Technology, Oracle database, Linux)
  • Knowledge of knowledge of COBOL, DB2, JCL, OPC, is a must.
  • Experience with Incident Management, IT Service Management, DevOps process workflow, Change Management
  • Experience with Compliance process (i.e. security monitoring, roadmap compliance, access management-SoD, etc),
  • Experience with tooling across the Software development Lifecycle/DevOps: Jira, Confluence etc.)
  • Understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle): Deep knowledge of various methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, DevOps) and their application.
  • CI/CD Concepts: Familiarity with automation principles, tools (e.g., Jenkins, Artifactory, Teamcity, Git/BitBucket ) best practices.
  • Version Control Systems (VCS): Proficiency with Git (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket) for branching, merging, and release tagging strategies.
  • Deployment Tools and Methodologies: Experience with various deployment strategies and tools (e.g., Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm).
  • Cloud Platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP): Understanding of cloud infrastructure, services, and deployment models if applicable to the organization's environment.
  • Scripting/Automation: Basic scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automating release tasks or managing configurations.
