Position Overview

Details of the Division and Team:

Deutsche Banks Strategic Investment Group (SIG) is seeking a Deal Sourcing professional (VP level or below) to join its market leading strategic investment and distressed credit franchise, which has a long and successful track record in the Japanese market.

SIG invests in and trades a broad range of products, including distressed and restructured credits, real estaterelated credit, non performing loan portfolios, special situation financing, and high yield instruments such as LBO mezzanine debt.

With expanding investment opportunities in Japan, SIG is looking for an experienced professional with deep knowledge of the Japanese banking industry to work alongside a highly experienced global team and further grow Deutsche Banks franchise in Japan.

The role will focus primarily on sourcing distressed loan opportunities from Japanese bank clients, while also providing support to the SIG investment analyst team in areas such as asset management, including direct engagement with key stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining long term relationships, including senior level relationships, with key Japanese bank clients to originate deal opportunities
  • Ensuring appropriate credit oversight to support effective sourcing activities and strategy development
  • Identifying attractive credit investment opportunities in close collaboration with the Investment Analyst team
  • Working closely with external loan servicers to execute acquisitions and manage non performing loan portfolio assets

Your skills and experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the Japanese banking industry, financial advisory firms, and/or credit investment companies or funds
  • Strong ability to identify attractive investment and financing opportunities
  • Native level Japanese and business level English proficiency
  • Bachelors degree, preferably in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work seamlessly with diverse stakeholders, including Traders, Investment Analysts, Senior Deal Sourcing Staff, Legal, and Operations teams
