Role Description

  • The Group Controls Office (GCO) is mandated to improve group-wide coordination and drive consistent standards and best practice across divisional and functional risk and control processes in the first line of defence (1LoD). In this role, the GCO works in close partnership with other 1LoD businesses and infrastructure functions including their divisional control offices (DCOs) as well as the second line of defence (2LoD), to deliver a set of services focussed on embedding in BAU the capabilities that drive effective and sustainable control environment outcomes across the Group.
  • The GCO has Run the Bank (RtB) and Change the Bank (CtB) responsibilities. Your role will have key accountability for delivering the Controls Inventory related CtB activities via the Operational Risk Management (ORM) Key Deliverable (KD)

Your key responsibilities

  • Working within the ORM KD delivery construct, help to deliver the Controls/ Inventory related milestones/ deliverables as set out in the KD plan, leveraging resources from across 1LoD and 2LoD and within the GCO
  • Based on KD deliverables form new requirements for delivery via the ORM application landscape/ revised operating processes working closely with RtB functions to seamlessly deliver that new functionality/ process change into their workflows
  • Work with the Framework and Assurance Leads in the GCO org and the Controls RtB Team to understand requirements for the Controls Inventory and deliver those changes, prioritized together with the KD deliverables
  • Engage with internal/ external Audit as required and contribute to regulatory findings closure
  • Review of current processes with a continuous improvement mindset to make them more efficient/ effective
  • Develop training materials to aid the Banks understanding of how the Control Environment is governed

Your skills and experience

  • A proven background working within a Controls related function (1Lod or 2LoD) bringing with you an understanding of how Controls are defined and operated in a Financial Services setting
  • A business analysis background with particular focus on specifying process and systems change
  • Experience working within medium sized programmes of work, preferably within a Controls related environment
  • Ability to interact with and influence senior stakeholders within and external to GCO
  • Experience of designing and operating processes associated with Controls elements of NFR Frameworks
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English.
