Wisable, a tech-enabled business brokerage spun out from D. E. Shaw’s venture studio, seeks a Transaction Advisor to lead the acquisition of new clients through a consultative sales process. In this role, you’ll work directly with small business owners who want to exit to understand their goals, educate them on our advisory process, and guide them toward engaging Wisable as their trusted M&A partner. You’ll be the first meaningful point of contact in what could be a life-changing decision for most clients; selling the business they’ve built over decades. This position is with Wisable, not the D. E. Shaw group. As a portfolio company of the D. E. Shaw group’s venture studio, DESCOvery, Wisable benefits from the firm’s industry expertise and network.
What you’ll do day-to-day
- Lead client meetings to educate prospective clients on the M&A process, timelines, and Wisable’s unique service model, while also effectively qualifying businesses as strong M&A candidates.
- Leverage Wisable’s AI-powered tools to generate customized reports and insights.
- Build trust with founders, guiding them through a complex and emotional transition with empathy and confidence.
- Engage directly with business owners and key stakeholders to gather essential financial and operational information.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated transition from onboarding to transaction execution.
- Assist in developing and maintaining strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including lenders and legal advisors.
Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, along with an impressive record of academic and professional achievement.
- At least three years of experience, with a minimum of two years of client-facing experience in financial services, business consulting, insurance, real estate, private wealth, or related sectors.
- Comfort explaining financial topics to clients and an ability to understand and discuss business performance across a variety of verticals.
- Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build trust over time, especially with non-technical clients.
- Ability to close complex, service-based engagements.
- A highly organized, proactive, and self-directed working style.
- The expected annual base salary for this position is $130,000 to $150,000. There will be additional compensation in the form of earned commissions.
