About the role

As a developer, you will be part of our eFX squad, which owns Danske Banks best in class electronic FX platform. The platform covers Pricing, Distribution, Quoting, Order Management, Sales Trader workflows, and e Risk Management.
The eFX squad is co located with the business on the trading floor, giving you direct exposure to live markets and close collaboration with traders and sales. You will work end to end on performance critical systems that support FX trading and distribution in a fast moving front office environment.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain business critical FX systems together with the rest of the squad
• Work closely with Trading, Sales, Quants, and Product partners to align technology solutions with business needs
• Contribute to Danske Banks digital transformation by building scalable, resilient solutions aligned with the FX strategy
• Own complex technical challenges, including performance, reliability, and availability
• Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture through knowledge sharing, coaching, and constructive feedback
• Support and continuously evolve existing front office platforms
• Design and work with highly available, low latency distributed systems

Who you are

You are a skilled and pragmatic engineer with strong collaboration and communication skills. You value transparency, assume responsibility for your work, and believe the best outcomes come from teamwork. 

Need to have:

• Have strong experience building latency sensitive systems in Java
• Are experienced with distributed systems and performance critical applications
• Are comfortable working with technologies such as Java, JVM based frameworks, messaging/event driven architectures, REST/gRPC APIs, and relational databases
• Have experience with Linux based environments, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices
• Have a strong interest in technology and how it drives commercial outcomes
• Communicate clearly and create trust and transparency with stakeholders
• Are curious, collaborative, and open to challenging existing solutions

Nice to have: You are motivated by connecting software engineering to real business outcomes. You are intrigued by financial markets and enjoy the front office environment, with close collaboration across Trading, Sales, Research, Risk, and Compliance. You welcome feedback and are always exploring ways to improve.
