We champion a DevSecOps culture and raise the bar on how and when we deploy applications to production. Our core principals are centered around automation, testing, quality, and immutability all via code. The role is responsible for building self-service capabilities that improve our security posture, productivity, and reduce time to market with automation at the core of these objectives. The individual collaborates with teams across the organization to ensure applications are designed for Continuous Delivery (CD) and are well-architected for their targeted platform which can be on-premise or the cloud. If you are passionate about developer productivity, cloud native applications, and container orchestration, this job is for you!

The Role As a Senior Platform Engineer in Cloud Engineer, you will be tasked with how we build and automate cloud-native infrastructure. We are looking for an automation-first engineer to grow our Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. In this role, you will bridge the gap between development and operations by engineering scalable, performant systems across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and other major cloud providers.

Principal Accountabilities

  • The incumbent mentors junior team members and learns from senior individuals on the team to capture the flow and bottlenecks in the holistic IT delivery process and define future tool sets.

What Youll Do

  • Architect and Implement: Build and maintain scalable IaaS (Infrastructure as Service) and PaaS (Platform as Service) solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Drive Automation: Champion an "automation-first" mindset, replacing manual tasks with code-driven solutions to reduce toil.

  • Standardize IaC: Lead the development, versioning, and lifecycle management of Terraform modules to ensure consistent deployments.

  • Manage Image Lifecycles: Utilize Packer to automate the creation and maintenance of secure, compliant machine images.

  • Optimize CI/CD: Design and manage Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for seamless infrastructure delivery.

  • Secure the Platform: Integrate secrets management (HashiCorp Vault or cloud-native managers) and manage identity via SAML/SSO.

  • Code Quality: Govern Git workflows, including branching strategies and performing rigorous Peer Reviews (PRs) for infrastructure code.

  • Operational Excellence: Improve system reliability, observability, and performance through proactive engineering and troubleshooting.

  • Mentor and Collaborate: Work closely with cross-functional teams like networking and SREs to gather requirements and manage deliverables.

What Youll Bring (Must-Have)

  • Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; or 10+ years of relevant professional experience in systems engineering or cloud infrastructure.

  • Cloud Expertise: Proven experience deploying and operating enterprise applications on major cloud providers (GCP, AWS, or Azure).

  • IaC Proficiency: Advanced experience with Terraform module development, including versioning and state management.

  • Coding/Scripting: Proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash for operational automation and tool development.

  • Version Control: Deep understanding of Git, SCM (Source Control Management), and collaborative PR workflows.

  • SRE Mindset: Strong grasp of SRE practices, including reliability engineering and operational automation.

  • Security Focus: Experience with Secrets Management (Vault), Identity Management (SAML/SSO), and compliance frameworks.

  • Tooling: Hands-on experience with Packer for image lifecycle management.

Nice to Have

  • Advanced Tools: Experience with Terragrunt, Argo CD, XLR, or Jenkins.

  • Config Management: Familiarity with Ansible, Chef, or Cloud-init.

  • Certifications: Cloud provider certifications like GCP Professional Cloud Architect/Engineer or Terraform Associate/Professional certification.
