Job Overview

The SCS Lead functions as a recognized subject matter expert, proactively identifying opportunities, expertly engaging with clients, and delivering bespoke solutions for complex transactions, leveraging Citi's comprehensive institutional capabilities to foster strong, long-term client relationships and generate new investment assets for Citi Wealth.

This is achieved by delivering bespoke, product agnostic advice and advanced execution strategies that meticulously balance wealth protection, preservation, and creation.

Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement & Strategic Advisory:
    • Advise ultra-high-net-worth clients on making informed, goal-aligned decisions regarding their largest asset holdings, covering strategies to acquire, dispose of, hedge, finance, or monetize these assets. This involves using a structured framework to help clients understand the implications of their choices, such as maintaining concentration for continued wealth potential, diversifying to stabilize their wealth, or implementing strategies to guard against irreversible loss.
    • Conduct rigorous assessments of exposure, event risk, and required capital to ensure client decisions on concentrated assets are aligned with their clearly defined financial goals.
    • Collaborate with the broader client team to develop, present, and finalize client investment proposals and new account pitches, ensuring seamless integration with Wealth Planning and Integrated Client Solutions.
    • Enhance collaboration and relationships between Capital Markets and Citi Private Bank clients and internal staff.
  • Opportunity Identification & Business Development:
    • Proactively identify potential ultra-high-net-worth clients with concentrated asset holdings through comprehensive market analysis and leveraging internal referral networks.
    • Systematize the process for capturing and refining potential client leads, ensuring efficient and continuous qualification of opportunities.
    • Pipeline Management & Prioritization: Develop and maintain a robust client pipeline, leveraging advanced analytics and CRM tools to score leads based on potential asset concentration and upcoming catalysts (lockup expiries, market performance etc.). Implement systematic review processes to prioritize engagements and allocate resources effectively, ensuring focus on high-impact opportunities.
    • Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Establish clear metrics for tracking pipeline progress, conversion rates, and revenue generation. Prepare regular, insightful reports for senior management and key stakeholders, providing transparent updates on business development activities, market trends, and strategic opportunities.
    • Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration: Foster transparent and proactive communication channels with internal partners (e.g., Wealth Planning, Investment Specialists, Institutional Markets) and external client teams. Regularly update stakeholders on pipeline status, client needs, and potential cross-selling opportunities to ensure a unified and cohesive approach to client service and business growth.
  • Solution Design & Delivery:
    • Structure and deliver a variety of comprehensive solutions designed to help clients acquire, dispose of, hedge, finance, or monetize their assets, including block sales, Over-The-Counter (OTC) Derivative strategies, and regional tax-aware strategies. Ensure solutions are tailored to client needs and effectively leverage Citi's diverse product capabilities and institutional strengths, particularly through partnerships with Institutional Markets for block trading and strategic equity solutions.
    • Evaluate strategic pathways such as asset sales, hedging strategies, monetization techniques, and lending solutions.
    • Engage with specialized product partners as necessary to design and implement these solutions, and meticulously track and report on outcomes.
  • Risk Management & Compliance:
    • Exercise sound judgment to appropriately assess risk in all business decisions, demonstrating unwavering commitment to protecting Citi's reputation, clients, and assets. This includes ensuring strict compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to internal policies, and promptly escalating, managing, and reporting any control issues.
    • Implement a rigorous risk management approach in all client interactions, especially concerning their exposures, ensuring full alignment with client risk tolerances and internal guidelines.
  • Strategic Initiatives & Product Enhancement:
    • Contribute to the implementation and ongoing enhancement of technology projects designed to expand and improve the Strategic Capital Solutions platform.
    • Assist in finalizing the programs and governance structures for new and existing SCS products and services.
    • Drive increased sales across a diverse range of products, spanning from traditional cash equities and listed derivatives to more complex OTC derivatives and financing solutions.

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • A good track record of experience in financial services, with a proven track record in strategic client advisory roles, particularly related to concentrated asset exposures, wealth management, and capital markets.
    • Demonstrated experience with product capabilities such as block trades and corporate equity derivatives, and a strong understanding of wealth planning principles.
    • Extensive product experience across cash trading, financing, derivatives and solution structuring
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively engage with both internal colleagues across various teams (Institutional Markets, Wealth Planning, Integrated Client Solutions) and external clients.
    • Highly self-motivated with the ability to cultivate strong working relationships across different functions and geographical regions.
    • Proven ability to manage tight deadlines and maintain fluent spoken and written English communication.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's/University degree required; Master's degree preferred.

Candidates applying for this role must be aware that it is a Certified Role, subject to the FCA and PRA Certification Regime. 

The Certification Regime is one element of the Individual Accountability Regime which came into effect on 7 March 2016.
