Job Overview

The Investment Banking Associate is an intermediate level position responsible for assisting clients in raising funds in the capital markets, as well as in providing corporate finance and strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and other types of financial transactions.

In this role, you’re expected to:

  • Understands advanced accounting principles, including mentoring junior colleagues
  • Creates and diligences complex financial analysis with limited guidance
  • Demonstrates excellent project management skills and ability to lead client communications and deal execution
  • Builds upon and apply comprehensive market/industry/product knowledge towards clients and projects
  • Delivers high quality work product, including responsibility over junior colleagues’ work
  • Works with the client and team on the storyboarding and drafting of client materials
  • Demonstrates a fundamental understanding of relevant legal documents and proactively reviews or confirms relevant clauses
  • Drives internal processes and helps manage internal requirements
  • Raises key questions and concerns and proposes potential solutions; makes independent decisions as appropriate
  • Communicates team conflicts with integrity and credibility and takes a leadership role in resolving issues
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Accountancy, Finance or closely related areas of Business Administration
  • Experience in evaluating corporate transactions and structures
  • Experience creating financial analyses
  • Experience assisting with client / business development
  • Demonstrated problem solving, project management and organizational skills
  • Communicates professionally and proactively follow-ups with team and clients regarding next steps pertaining to client meetings/projects
  • Understands team and client needs; able to translate them into client-ready content and solutions with limited guidance
  • Establishes oneself as client’s point of contact for requests in the normal course of business
