Job Overview

Institutional Credit Management (ICM) is a first line of defense function (1LOD) that houses and consistently manages credit risk activities performed for Citis institutional clients. Within ICM, the Credit Underwriting function provides credit analysis, underwriting, and first line of defense credit approval for periodic / material transaction reviews, and the subsequent credit monitoring across all institutional business including Banking, Services, and Markets relationships.

Citi is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join the ICM team as a Senior Underwriting Analyst (VP). The Senior Underwriting Analyst (VP) will be responsible for the comprehensive assessment and management of credit risk associated with Citi's Large Corporates portfolio. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the prudent management of risk within a critical segment of the global economy.

Key Responsibilities:
    Independently perform assigned responsibilities with limited supervision
    Maintain coverage of a complex portfolio of obligors
    Independent, timely completion of monitoring memos in assigned portfolio with minimal Underwriter comments
    Author and/or support complex and time sensitive transaction memos, as required
    Accurately and concisely analyze complex credits including criticized credits
    Effectively lead/defend recommendations during Risk discussions. This includes defending projection model assumptions
    Exhibit strong understanding of internal policies and procedures and keep up to date with any changes
    Ensure timely completion of remediations identified during the internal testing process
    [Depending on experience, reviews and engages in discussions on credit terms of loans, derivatives, or other trading documents]
    Ensure compliance with key KPIs
    Timely completion of all mandatory compliance / analytical trainings  
    Provide guidance and mentorship to Officers and AVPs on analytical matters
    Assist in training for new joiners and recommend trainings around new procedures, improvement areas as needed

    Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning
    Ability to provide guidance and oversight to Analysts and Associates across portfolio monitoring requirements, financial modelling, and adherence to Policy & Procedure
    Ability to build and maintain a network of internal resources and subject matter experts (across product, legal, operations, risk, and other relevant stakeholders) as needed
    Ability to interpret and apply internal credit policies and procedures 
    Adherence to the highest ethical standards and a commitment to Citi's core values 
    Excellent verbal & written communication skills. Active listening skills
    Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to build relationships and exert influence with and without direct authority. Willingness to work under pressure and manage time and priorities effectively with little to no supervision.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience:
    Minimum 6 years of experience, specifically in credit-related roles within Banking, Credit Risk Management, or a comparable field
    Credit Officer (CO) or demonstrating the skills aligned with that designation
    Strong skills in financial analysis, including proficiency in interpreting financial statements and identifying key risk indicators
    Proficient knowledge of product documentation and ability to negotiate terms
    Proficient in modeling techniques with a deep understanding of modeling principles
    Proven ability to identify and escalate potential risk issues in a timely manner
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    Bachelors/University degree, Masters degree preferred.
