Citis Banking franchise is strategically structured around three core lines of business: Investment Banking, Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking. The unified Banking and International organization oversee the local delivery of our firm's full capabilities to clients across all 95 markets where Citi maintains a physical presence.

Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) operates as a solutions-driven business, meeting the evolving demands of mid-sized and emerging corporates.

The Head will assume leadership for the Industrials industry in the Mid-Corporate segment, overseeing relationship management of this segment for the Hong Kong CCB franchise. This role also serves as the Corporate Finance Subject Matter Expert for Hong Kong CCB to assist in the origination, structuring and execution of episodic transactions. The Head reports to the Head of CCB, Hong Kong

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive revenue growth, cultivate deeper client relationships, strategically acquire new clients for the Hong Kong CCB franchise.
  • Act as a senior subject matter expert for the Industrials portfolio and lead a team of Relationship Managers, providing guidance to team members to accelerate client acquisition, enhance client engagement and expand share of wallet.
  • Elevate ecosystem engagement by fostering strong connections with players in the market.
  • Effectively manage senior-level relationships, encompassing both internal stakeholders and external founders and promoters, to build un-wavering trust, managing expectations effectively, mitigate risks, and consistently achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and Citi's internal policies and guidelines at all times
  • Exercise risk assessment in all business decisions, demonstrating paramount consideration for the firm's reputation and robustly safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets. This involves strict compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment in personal and business conduct; escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise others while ensuring accountability for those who deviate from these standards.

  • Serves as the Corporate Finance Subject Matter Expert for Hong Kong CCB to coordinate with Investment Banking for advisory and capital market origination
  • Work with CCB Bankers and the IB teams to actively originate new episodic opportunities to assist clients in raising funds in the capital markets (i.e. debt and equity, IPO) as well as providing strategic financing advisory for acquisition finance and other types of financial solutions
  • Support strategic discussions with clients on Merge & Acquisition by leveraging on the client relationships with CCB bankers and expertise of Investment banking industry bankers
  • Work with bankers to facilitate internal approvals and processes.
  • Provide content on industry and capital market trends for clients and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with at least 10 years dedicated to relationship management within commercial and/or corporate banking.
  • Experience in leading the Industrials segment and/or client base is a must.
  • Profound knowledge of all aspects of commercial banking, coupled with strong commercial credit acumen and the capacity to rapidly learn new products and services
  • Proven track record of supporting the growth of client relationships
  • Experience in corporate financing and investment banking will be an advantage
  • Demonstrated sound judgment innovative problem-solving abilities in providing credit/deposit/Markets/structured solutions to clients
  • Extensive experience exercising commercial credit decision-making authority, particularly in complex capital structures and cross-border transactions
  • Possession of at least intermediate-level credit skills, with a proven ability to advance to senior credit officer status.
  • A proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. Exceptional interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams through complex change; coupled with a reputation for retaining, attracting and developing talent
  • Proven leadership capabilities complemented by outstanding interpersonal communication skills. Agility in adapting priorities swiftly based on the latest data insights.
  • Full management responsibility for a team, including oversight of personnel, budget, and strategic planning, encompassing duties such as performance evaluations, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations, as well as potential budget approval authority.
  • Must have a business development focus and demonstrate innovative approaches
  • Fluent Mandarin is a requirement.

  • Bachelors/University degree, Master's degree preferred and managerial experience
