Job Overview
Citi continues to strengthen its Institutional Credit Management (ICM) organization as a core first line of defense for wholesale credit risk across Corporate Banking, Markets, and Services. ICM delivers consistent, endtoend credit analysis, underwriting support, and portfolio monitoring for institutional clients globally.
We are seeking a Credit Analyst to join the North America Energy Underwriting team based in Irving, Texas, Citis primary U.S. hub for Energy credit risk. This role supports credit underwriting and ongoing portfolio monitoring for a diversified set of Energy and Natural Resources clients, partnering closely with Energy bankers and Risk teams.
This position is ideal for candidates with 25 years of experience who want handson exposure to Energy credit analysis and a clear path toward Senior Analyst and AVPlevel underwriting roles.
Role Overview
The Credit Analyst supports the endtoend credit underwriting process for Energy sector clients. Responsibilities include financial analysis, preparation of credit approval materials, portfolio monitoring, and transaction support. The role reports to the NAM Energy Underwriting Manager and works closely with Corporate Banking and Independent Risk partners.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Analysis & Underwriting Support
- Support credit underwriting from early transaction discussions through approval
- Prepare and update Credit Approval Memoranda (CAMs), ensuring accuracy and policy compliance
- Conduct financial statement analysis, projection modeling, stress testing, and risk ratings
- Support annual and quarterly credit reviews for the assigned Energy portfolio
Portfolio & Transaction Support
- Assist with new transactions, renewals, amendments, and adhoc credit requests
- Monitor covenant compliance, exposure changes, and early warning indicators
- Participate in portfolio and industry reviews, including stresstesting exercises
Risk & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with Energy bankers, Independent Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit
- Apply Citis global credit standards while considering U.S. Energy market dynamics
- Support regulatory and internal review processes as required
Development & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to underwriting process enhancements and best practices
- Build Energy sector expertise through deal exposure and portfolio analysis
- Develop strong working relationships across business and risk teams
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 25 years of relevant experience in credit analysis, underwriting support, financial analysis, or related roles
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements and cash flows
- Ability to assess industry and market data to support credit decisions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Exposure to Energy, Oil & Gas, Power, or Natural Resources sectors
- Familiarity with reservebased lending (RBL), project finance, or Energy credit structures
- Experience working in a large, matrixed financial institution
