The Collateral Manager - Asset Based Lending (ABL) will take a leadership role in managing  and optimizing collateral risk across a portfolio of middle-market and mid-corporate borrowers in the Commercial Bank. Based in New York, the ideal candidate will:

  • Lead the end-to-end collateral monitoring process for complex ABL facilities, including borrowing base validation, availability tracking, funding request evaluation and collateral trend analysis
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset with an ability to influence key decision markers, initiate and orchestrate change to enhance processes and promote efficiencies
  • Oversee the verification of collateral pledged against loans and ensure accurate reconciliation of borrowing base certificates with underlying source data (e.g., accounts receivable aging reports, inventory listings).
  • Manage the oversight of collateral data input, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and integrity within the bank's collateral management systems. Develop and implement procedures to identify and correct data discrepancies.
  • Critically evaluate client funding requests, ensuring they align with the approved borrowing base, facility terms, and collateral availability. Analyze eligibility criteria and advance rates.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients on all collateral-related matters, fostering strong relationships
  • Collaborate effectively with ABL Relationship Managers, Underwriters, Operations, and Credit Risk teams to ensure a holistic approach to client management and risk assessment
  • Possess a critical understanding of ABL collateral management systems and actively contribute to the management, testing, and implementation of system upgrades, enhancements, and new technology initiatives to improve efficiency, data quality, and scalable growth
  • Identify and escalate collateral deterioration, fraud risk, or operational red flags

Qualifications:

  • 10-15+ years in ABL collateral management, at a large bank or equivalent financial institution
  • Strong analytical skills, with an ability to analyze complex financial data and trends
  • Experience with collateral tracking platforms (e.g., ABLSoft, StuckyNet/Solifi)
