The Tiber project is a multi-billion dollar new deepwater hub in the Gulf of America (GoA). This project has just entered bps Execute phase and presents an exciting opportunity for world class delivery through standardized design and improved ways of working. This is to be achieved through a program work construct, with this project being the first in a series of planned new hubs, where a 'design one, build many' approach is to be embraced. The Tiber development consists of a column stabilized moored semisubmersible Floating Production Unit (FPU) intended for production of hydrocarbons, supported by subsea production systems, associated wells, and midstream services operated export pipelines.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Promoting project HSE objectives and demonstrating the safety leadership principles to support contractor delivery of a positive safety culture.
  • Oversight of EPC contractor work and ensure alignment with bp processes, procedures, and expectations on safety, quality and schedule.
  • Setup and coach Right First Time quality build methodology and workshops, providing support to oversight of action closure to build a pro-active quality culture and ensure build conformance.
  • Identifies fabrication/construction findings, networking with the community of practice and engaging with specialists when required and within area of responsibility
  • Leads the construction self-verification and oversight programme within area of responsibility. Reviews output and works with the team to propose & update oversight schedule.
  • Sets and inputs to key construction reviews, including constructability reviews, and chips in to other functional assessments.
  • Support PCM in client internal construction conformance. Compilation of reports as required and author/review key construction delivery documents.
  • Input and support to influencing Contractor in delivering robust constructability and construction execution plans
  • Handle the contract for the flange management oversight contractor.
  • Own the work with bp subsea team and vendors to lead the safe installation of company provided items.
  • Ensures conformance to bp requirements within area of responsibility and drives compliance with all technical integrity and HSE expectations
  • Identifies fabrication/construction execution risks at appropriate project stages and supports risk management activities within area of responsibility
  • Support the PCM to performance lead Contractor delivery for the construction scope elements according to the plan
  • Participates in managing relationships with collaborators as appropriate, supports co-ordination of key Contractor and construction interfaces within area of responsibility
  • Owns the bp lifting assurance oversight process at site using team expertise.
  • Drive the resolution of site technical issues by liaising with engineering and construction team
  • Participates in bp risk assessment reviews and supports closure of mitigating actions as the need arises.

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

  • 5+ years in management of EPC contractors to deliver construction of large scale greenfield fabrication yards.
  • Ability to communicate and demonstrate site safety leadership principles.
  • In depth knowledge of IOGP life saving rules and ability to work with contractor.
  • Setup and agile framework applying the applicable tools and techniques
  • Experience writing key client construction procedures that drive the management of EPC contractor safety, quality and delivery.
  • Track record in setting up and leading construction readiness activities for multidiscipline scopes and critical lifting and loadout activities.
  • Understanding and experience in oversight of mechanical completion and system handover processes.
  • Experience in working in post yard activities including offshore integration and start-up construction support.
  • Understand subsea scope for offshore installation and experience handling this key interface at sites.
  • Specific knowledge on flange management standard methodology and ability to provide direct oversight.
  • Ability to analyse plans and experience in supporting risk based reviews of contractor cost & schedules.
  • Demonstrate experience in setup and delivery of client based safety and quality oversight plans.
  • Coordinate resolution of technical issues by working with construction and engineering subject area leads.
  • Understands key construction contract management and risks. Able lead EPC contractor against contract scope of work, and proactively raise exposure risks
  • Deep competence and experience in working client Management of Change and Risk Management tools, while planning & implementing oversight of contract project management processes related to construction.
  • Setup and lead lessons learned implementation and recording.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to lead by example and influence others.
  • Proficient English oral and written communication skills, including report writing experience.
