Job Description:

We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially astute Credit Controller to lead credit risk and optimize cash flow for Castrol BP Petco Ltd. This role requires a customer-centric approach, strong negotiation skills, and a solid understanding of financial reporting and internal controls.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and control the company's credit exposure, ensuring adherence to established credit policies and procedures.
  • Conduct detailed credit assessments of new and existing customers, using analytical thinking and risk management principles.
  • Monitor customer accounts for overdue payments, initiating collection activities and negotiating payment plans to minimize bad debt.
  • Develop a customer-centric environment while effectively leading credit terms.
  • Collaborate with sales and commercial teams to understand business processes and ensure credit decisions support commercial objectives.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports related to credit performance, aging, and provisions for bad debt.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control frameworks and relevant regulations, contributing to robust business process control.
  • Use digital tools and platforms to streamline credit management processes and improve efficiency.
  • Engage with internal and external collaborators, including legal and treasury teams, on complex credit matters.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in credit management practices.

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience in credit control or a similar financial role.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrable commercial savvy and understanding of business drivers.
  • Expertise in credit management principles and standard methodologies.
  • Excellent customer-centric thinking and social skills.
  • High level of digital proficiency with experience using relevant financial software and tools.
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of internal control and compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in risk management methodologies as applied to credit.
  • Consistent track record to engage effectively with diverse collaborators.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in accounting and/or Finance. ACCA, CPA or equivalent qualification is a plus
