Join us at Barclays as a Portfolio Hedging & Optimisation Analyst. The Portfolio Hedging & Optimisation (PH&O) team is responsible for global credit hedging and financial resource optimisation across Barclays Corporate and Investment Bank lending portfolio. It oversees a global structured trade programme (Colonnade) to support credit and capital management, while driving lending and returns optimisation and leading strategic capital initiatives.

Your role responsibilities will include supporting the assessment, structuring, and execution of Significant Risk Transfer (SRT) transactions, including due diligence, portfolio construction, and deal structuring. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to manage documentation, negotiation, and execution, while also maintaining and enhancing existing SRT transactions to improve efficiency, RWA usage, and risk outcomes. Additional duties will include managing credit events, cashflows, and regulatory reporting, identifying process improvements, contributing to strategic analysis for senior decision-making. You will also respond to regulatory and governance queries, and collaborate broadly across functions such as Treasury, Risk, Quantitative Analytics, and Middle Office as well as external investors and advisors.

To be successful as a PH&O Analyst you should have:

  • A Bachelors Degree or equivalent.
  • A quantitative foundation and demonstrated ability to apply analytical thinking to complex project and transaction-oriented problems.
  • A focus which is be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in fast-paced execution environments while managing multiple priorities.
  • Some level of experience in financial services with an ability to understand Significant Risk Transfer and Financial Markets.

Additional skills of value include:

  • A hands-on approach, good follow-through, and a willingness to contribute across both analytical and operational aspects of transaction execution.
  • Ability to be intellectually curious and highly motivated with effective analytical capabilities, sound judgment, and a demonstrated sense of ownership.
  • An understanding of corporate loan portfolio management and the associated credit risk.
  • Excellent communication skills in managing internal and external stakeholders.

Purpose of the role

Portfolio Hedging & Optimization (PH&O) structures and executes risk transfer trades. Primary responsibility of this role is to support with the origination and ongoing management of these structured trades.  

Accountabilities

  • Partner with internal Structuring, Treasury and Middle Office to execute new structured transactions, as part of a deal team.  .
  • Ongoing management and optimization of the structured transactions, partnering with internal teams and external parties such as law firms/verification agents, rating agencies and agent banks.  .
  • Together with relationship/Sales teams, support with investor engagement including queries related to existing and prospective transactions  .
  • Support of wider portfolio optimization initiatives as well as analytics, returns and model enhancements.  .
