Job overview: Join AXA UK as a leader of our Tax team, where youll be responsible for managing the tax position of the AXA UK group, including AXA UK plc and its subsidiaries. Youll play a key role in optimising the groups tax profile, minimising tax risks, and supporting the growth and development of our diverse business operations. Key responsibilities: Lead the Tax Team to deliver comprehensive tax advisory, accounting, and compliance services that optimise the groups tax position. Develop and manage a high-performing team with the right mix of tax expertise and business understanding, fostering motivation, professional growth, and technical proficiency. Oversee the preparation, review, and timely submission of tax returns, negotiating liabilities with tax authorities to ensure compliance and minimise tax costs. Provide proactive tax advice to business areas and central functions, contributing to effective management of tax costs and risks on transactions and initiatives. Manage the preparation and disclosure of accounting and solvency figures related to tax, ensuring accuracy and transparency. Proactively oversee the groups tax loss capacity and profile, including interactions with other UK-based AXA entities outside the AXA UK sub-group. Maintain and develop relationships with His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC), His Majesty's Treasury (HMT), and other external bodies, monitoring legislative changes and influencing policy developments to benefit the group. Oversee the tax affairs of overseas group activities (e.g., Ireland and AXA Health International) and support the Global Tax Department on technical and managerial matters, including committee participation. Work arrangements: At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. Your skills & experience: Qualified professional, either as an accountant, tax specialist, or HM Inspector of Taxes, with relevant certification. Graduate qualification preferred, demonstrating a strong academic background. Substantial experience working within a large corporate environment or a leading professional services firm, with a focus on tax. Industry experience in insurance or financial services, understanding the specific tax considerations of these sectors. Proven experience in managing and developing a team of staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Strong networking skills, with the ability to build and maintain close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly articulating complex tax concepts. Skilled in influencing and negotiation, able to navigate complex discussions and achieve positive outcomes.
