Role Overview Ashurst combines the benefits of a leading Competition & EU practice with a supportive and collegiate environment. The Brussels office is looking to make a long term investment in a strong competition lawyer. You will be part of the Competition and Regulatory team advising on a full range of EU and domestic competition related matters, including: - domestic and EU merger control;
- cartel and abuse of dominance investigations;
- appeals of infringement decisions before EU courts and domestic courts, and
- market investigations, state aid (including FSR), FDI and litigation.
The candidate should be an ambitious lawyer, preferably with demonstrable experience in a competition & EU related role. The role represents an outstanding opportunity for a team-player with strong technical skills and a commercial approach to progress. In addition to strong technical skills, you should be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills as there will be significant client contact. Essential Skills and Experience Qualifications - Master's Degree in European and Competition Law;
- Registered with a Belgian Bar or in the process of doing so;
- 1-5 years of relevant competition experience ideally gained within a law firm and/or in a competition authority (are) is welcome.
Skills - Dutch mother tongue equivalent, excellent English and very good French language skills are a prerequisite;
- Proactive, a fast learner, and a team-player who can work effectively with colleagues at all levels.
