Position Overview

The Corporate Credit Underwriting Principal will work in the APAC Credit Team, focusing on underwriting HY and IG credit investments across sectors, with a focus on Corporate Solutions. This role spans the full investment lifecycle from identifying opportunities to underwriting, execution, and monitoring. This role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the team’s investment objectives. Responsibilities for the incumbent Principal will include modeling, quantitative financial analysis, industry research, and monitoring credits post investment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth industry research and analysis to identify opportunities
  • Develop an independent view on market & industry trends as well as the individual credit profile of targets analyzed
  • Develop and maintain financial models and perform quantitative analysis to support investment decisions
  • Remain up to date and well informed about the latest sizable credit and M&A transactions in APAC
  • Play an active role on the deal team in pitching, analyzing and/or synthesizing new investment opportunities
  • Develop, present and discuss investment thesis with senior team members and present to Investment Committee
  • Monitor and manage portfolio performance, ensuring ongoing sector and company-level insights
  • Develop meaningful relationships with management teams as part of the investment process
  • Assist the team with additional projects, including but not limited to, portfolio monitoring, reporting, investor requests and presentations

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in Credit Investing, Leveraged Finance or Investment Banking. Experience underwriting HY credits is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required with a degree in finance, accounting, economics preferred; Coursework in finance and accounting preferred with strong grasp on the fundamentals of financial markets
  • Proven track record of academic and professional success and achievement
  • Strong interest in credit investing and specifically in the private credit and direct lending industries
  • Previous experience with/knowledge of credit agreements and/or bond indentures is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills a must; Strong written and verbal communication skills also required
  • Nimble and flexible to balance multiple tasks simultaneously with strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Candidate must have the desire and ability to take initiative on tasks and responsibilities
  • Collaborative and able to effectively communicate within lean investment teams as well as able to work independently
  • Excels in a rigorous and fast-paced team-oriented work environment
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills are mandatory
