Data Engineer - Retail Banking - SAS / SQL / GCP
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join the Data & AI team of a leading Retail Banking client, working on the Data Migrations & Data Usability project. This role is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a high-profile initiative within a leading retail banking client.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Migration:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data solutions for generation, collection, and processing.
- Build data pipelines and ensure data quality for seamless ETL processes across systems.
- Lead migration of SAS data (Base SAS & SPDS) and SAS metadata objects (DI Jobs, SAS Flows) from On-Prem to GCP.
- Validate flow outputs through data, log, and performance comparisons.
Technical Expertise & Problem Solving:
- Troubleshoot SAS code, SAS DI, and SAS Flows issues effectively.
- Apply expertise in Data Warehousing, SQL, encoding mitigation (WLATIN to UTF8 in SAS), and Unix/Linux fundamentals.
- Work with GBs and TBs of data, ensuring efficient migration from On-Prem to GCP.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Act as an SME, managing and guiding the team on key decisions.
- Engage with multiple teams to provide innovative solutions and drive success.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in SAS migration (Base SAS & SAS Macros).
- Strong SQL skills (Proc SQL within SAS & DI Jobs).
- Hands-on experience with GCP & cloud data solutions.
- Understanding of Unix/Linux environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
Location: London (Hybrid - 2 days a week)
Duration: 3 months initially
