Finance Disputes Paralegal - Leeds

THE FIRM
We stand out for our consistently excellent advice: we provide technical excellence, experience and crucially, we demonstrate real insight into our clients and what matters to them. Our knowledge of our chosen sectors and markets, and our investment in our client relationships set us apart. We are a natural choice for FTSE100 and other high profile clients.

THE TEAM
Launched in 2010, our well-established, high performing and busy Transaction Services Team (TST) help Addleshaw Goddard deliver a world class service to its clients. We were the first team of its kind in the UK, and continue to innovate by delivering work in the most efficient way, saving our clients time and money. We are now one of the
Firm's biggest divisions, with our team being made up of apprentices, paralegals, managers and solicitors.

Our team members focus on tasks that are found in a wide variety of legal assignments but which do not necessarily need to be done by qualified lawyers, including process elements of transactional, advisory and contentious work. We are supported by the use of technology and play a key role in enabling Addleshaw Goddard to respond to client demand for more innovative and better value services.

Aside from a competitive salary and flexible benefits package, you'll get fantastic opportunities to support some of the UK's largest businesses, as well as the potential for exciting internal and client secondments. With our focus on continuous development and progression, we created a career development framework and training programme specifically for the TST. As part of that framework you'll have the opportunity to have a career conversation every 4 months to ensure we're supporting you to meet your development goals and to discuss your progression. In addition, you'll have access to our internal processes for routes to qualification, legal qualification sponsorship and management or technical development programmes.

THE ROLE
In this role you will be embedded in the Finance Disputes team in Leeds, although there may be times that you are asked to undertake work for other areas of the Disputes Group or the firm, depending on business needs.  The specific assignments you will be working on may include the following:
assisting with the day-to-day management of commercial debt recovery matters
reporting on progress of matters to our clients
document review, including e-disclosure, to assess the relevance of a wide range of documentation as part of a litigation case including:
o    as part of early case assessment
        o    pre-litigation document reviews
o    large scale document reviews on e-disclosure platforms on litigated matters
drafting correspondence to debtors and third parties, including formal pre-action correspondence
drafting and producing legal documentation for court proceedings
drafting court forms and other standard forms
drafting witness statements and preparing witness bundles and exhibits to witness statements
negotiating with debtors on the telephone and via email and letter
drafting settlement agreements and Tomlin Orders
   drafting charging order applications
managing electronic data sites, uploading documentation, and liaising with third parties
creating bundles and preparing for trial and other court hearings
checking legal documents for quality, consistency and content and ensuring documents are compliant with the relevant part of the CPR
providing support to clients on-site, managing their expectations and keeping them updated
liaising with clients, third parties and the Court
preparing instructions and subsequent correspondence for Counsel
conducting research and providing findings in a clear and concise manner
managing time, diarising deadlines and ensuring deadlines are met
any additional tasks as required by the business

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (BESPOKE TO ROLE)
Due to the dynamic nature of the work we do and the clients we seek to serve, the role is not an ordinary "9-5" job. For the right person, this role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to our proven success by utilising a wide set of skills essential to a career in the TST.
Any successful applicant will need the following skills and competencies:
a high level of attention to detail
effective personal, organisational and time management skills, and the ability to juggle multiple demands
strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating an ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels
a positive, enthusiastic and proactive approach to work
a strong work ethic and a desire to develop and succeed
the ability to work to tight timescales with a sense of urgency
common sense, commerciality and the ability to exercise sound judgment
an interest in, or experience of, using technology to deliver work
Previous Litigation paralegal experience is of relevance, but not essential

OUR FIRM
Addleshaw Goddard is a place where you are valued, encouraged, and challenged to fulfil your potential in a supportive and collegiate environment. Our culture of improvement, growth and collaboration delivers results, drives innovation, and rewards ambition.

We not only provide technical excellence and experience but, crucially, demonstrate real insight into our clients and what really matters to them and as such we are natural choice for FTSE100 clients and their equivalents in other markets.

Our success has been built by people from the widest range of backgrounds, locations, and perspectives. We have a number of employee networks that provide space to discuss the differences that make us who we are and celebrate this at AG.

OUR APPROACH: IMAGINE THE BEST YOU CAN BE
Everything we've accomplished can be traced back to our people and the way we work. Our reputation is something we are proud of, and constantly invest in.
Here, you'll do high calibre work, with high-character colleagues who care for one another and our clients.

Are you up for the challenge?
