Overview

Susquehanna has an opening for a Platform Services Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure services team.

Susquehanna is a global quantitative trading firm founded with an entrepreneurial mindset and a rigorous analytical approach to decision making. We are leaders and innovators in high performance, low latency trading. Our traders, quants, developers, and systems engineers work side by side to develop and implement our trading strategies. Our Platform Services team is an integral part of the Compute and Storage Platforms team at Susquehanna and shares responsibility for supporting, building and managing all servers storage solutions that composes our trading and corporate infrastructure. Joining Platform Services is the first step in building an engineering career with Susquehanna.

What you can expect from us:

Exposure to platform technology: As part of the team, you will be exposed to senior engineers specializing in Windows, Linux, Virtualization, Storage, and open-source technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Ansible, and Grafana.  As part of the role, you will partner with engineers to learn the fundamentals of their spaces and help them solve complex problems from supporting and building out new environments, evaluating and creating new applications, performance tuning, automation, and configuration management.

Work with Mentors: In each rotation, you will be paired with one or more mentors that will guide you through your technical growth and Susquehanna’s environment. In addition to dealing with day-to-day BAU tasks, together you will pinpoint your areas of interest and avenues for growth. You will also work closely with the rest of our teams through design/white board sessions, problem solving discussions, and ongoing project and team updates.

Address and solve challenging technical problems: At Susquehanna, we want your help to improve our environment. Partner with technologists across Susquehanna's environment to troubleshoot application, network, hardware, and other issues while learning and debating the best solution to fit the scenario.  You will have the freedom to test and implement your solutions at scale in our onsite labs consisting of over 600 physical and virtual servers.

Engage with new technology: Susquehanna is always looking at the latest technology to see where we can increase speed and performance for competitive advantage while managing risk and enhancing stability. You may have the opportunity to help test out new hardware that isn’t generally available (server hardware, network cards, flash storage), automate task and monitoring application or work on high performance clustered environments responsible for driving our quantitative trading.

What we're looking for
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Networking, Engineering or a similar technical major
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working on platform environment (Linux or Windows servers)
  • Previous experience with monitoring/telemetry tools such as Grafana, Nagios, CheckMK or other similar tools.
  • Experience in operating system management of Linux and/or Windows server
  • Familiar with basic network level TCP/IP, kernel-level, network cards functionalities
  • Exposure to scripting and automation workflow is helpful.

About Susquehanna:

Susquehanna is a global quantitative trading firm powered by scientific rigor, curiosity, and innovation. Our culture is intellectually driven and highly collaborative, bringing together researchers, engineers, and traders to design and deploy impactful strategies in our systematic trading environment. To meet the unique challenges of global markets, Susquehanna applies machine learning and advanced quantitative research to vast datasets in order to uncover actionable insights and build effective strategies. By uniting deep market expertise with cutting-edge technology, we excel in solving complex problems and pushing boundaries together.

What we do:

We are experts in trading essentially all listed financial products and asset classes, with a focus on derivatives trading. Through market making and market taking, we handle millions of trading transactions around the world every day, providing liquidity and ensuring competitive prices for buyers and sellers. While our presence in the market is broad, our trading desks are highly specialized, allowing for a deep understanding of unique drivers of each asset class.

Equal Opportunity Statement:

We encourage applications from candidates from all backgrounds, and we welcome requests for reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process to ensure that you can best demonstrate your abilities.

If you're a recruiting agency and want to partner with us, please reach out to recruiting@sig.com. Any resume or referral submitted in the absence of a signed agreement will not be eligible for an agency fee.
