JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview

As one of the world’s largest market makers, Susquehanna was one of the first high frequency trading firms to pioneer the use of hardware-accelerated trading systems. As an FPGA Engineer at Susquehanna, you will sit at the cusp of hardware and trading and help us as we continue to build some of the industry’s most cutting edge ultra-low latency trading environments.

At Susquehanna, we don’t believe in silos. We believe that people do their best work when they have the freedom to explore, experiment, and collaborate with other brilliant minds. As part of our FPGA team, you will be trusted to own your hardware solutions from end to end. You will partner closely with our Strategy Developers and Quantitative Researchers to translate complex trading problems into scalable and highly performant hardware solutions. Our FPGA Engineers are heavily involved in FPGA architecture, design, simulation, and testing. The work that they do makes a direct impact on our trading business whether that’s working on larger, strategic projects, or smaller projects with very short design cycles!

Prior experience in trading or finance is helpful, but not required. We love talented FPGA Engineers who come from all different backgrounds! If you enjoy tackling performance intensive challenges and want to help evolve the way the industry uses FPGAs, we encourage you to apply!

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with Quantitative Researchers and Strategy Developers to understand challenges and translate requirements into hardware design
  • Architect and design solutions to accelerate key areas of our infrastructure including hardware selection and key functional blocks
  • Implement solutions from the board to API and deploy out to a production environment
  • Work with trading teams and Strategy Developers to continue iterating and improving the performance of our hardware.

What we're looking for
  • 8+ years of experience in FPGA or ASIC high level architecture, design, and development using VHDL, Verilog, or System Verilog is required
  • Prior experience working with high-speed interfaces such as Ethernet and PCIe is preferred
  • Experience with high-level software languages like C#, C, or Java is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related discipline or its foreign equivalent

About Susquehanna

Our culture is intellectually driven and highly collaborative, bringing together researchers, engineers, and traders to design and deploy impactful strategies in our systematic trading environment. By uniting deep market expertise with cutting-edge technology, we excel in solving complex problems and pushing boundaries together.

What we do

We are experts in trading essentially all listed financial products and asset classes, with a focus on derivatives trading. Through maket making and market taking, we handle millions of trading transactions around the world every day, providing liquidity and ensuring competitive prices for buyers and sellers.
