River's Edge is seeking a skilled corporate attorney to join its team as in-house legal counsel. River’s Edge is comprised of two affiliated companies:

  • River’s Edge Insurance Solutions, LLC, a licensed excess and surplus lines insurance brokerage that specializes in providing tailored insurance solutions for unique and hard-to-place risks in the standard (or admitted) insurance market, often intersecting with the entertainment and sports industries
  • River’s Edge Promotions, LLC, which provides marketing and promotional services to brands, event organizers, sports rights holders and agencies across diverse industries. River’s Edge is an affiliate of Susquehanna International Group and is uniquely positioned as a growing start-up business that is powered and supported by a global leader in quantitative trading.

Our ideal candidate has strong corporate/transactional experience and an interest in building expertise in insurance regulatory matters, in particular in the area of surplus lines. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with a dedicated and entrepreneurial team to drive informed business decisions and help ensure the legal and compliance aspects of our expanding operations.

In this role you will:

  • Provide legal advice and support on a broad range of matters, including commercial transactions, compliance with state surplus lines regulations and general business matters
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of documents and agreements, including insurance policies, service agreements, confidentiality agreements, promotional terms and conditions and marketing materials
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners and stakeholders, including insurance companies, other brokers and service providers
  • Assist with internal policy development and regulatory compliance programs
  • Advise on risk management strategies and mitigation measures to protect the company's interests and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Stay informed about legal developments, regulations and industry trends affecting surplus lines insurance to provide proactive legal advice

What we're looking for
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a corporate attorney, with a preference for candidates with prior insurance-related experience
  • Proficiency in negotiating and drafting contracts, agreements, and other documents
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess legal risks and provide practical solutions
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to liaise comfortably with all levels of management and outside counsel
  • Must exhibit initiative and assertiveness in obtaining information needed to proceed with projects and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations or urgent requests that may arise with little or no notice
  • Must possess discretion and sensitivity when working with confidential information and safeguard such information appropriately
  • Collaborative mindset with a demonstrated ability to work within a team-oriented environment
  • Visa sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position now or in the future
