Full Job Description

Maven is a market-leading, employee-owned proprietary trading firm deploying internal capital across discretionary, systematic, and market-making strategies. We differentiate ourselves by exclusively managing our own capital, delivering exceptional returns on equity since inception, and preserving an entrepreneurial, highly collaborative culture.

We are looking for a Business Development Analyst. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the sourcing, evaluation, and onboarding of new Portfolio Managers (PMs), as well as contributing to platform-wide strategic initiatives. This position sits at the core of the firm’s growth engine—interfacing with senior leadership, PM candidates, and cross-functional teams including risk, technology, data and operations.

Role Responsibilities:

Portfolio Manager Sourcing & Evaluation
  • Map the landscape across major strategy verticals and continuously build a pipeline of high-quality prospects.
  • Analyse track records, risk profiles, drawdowns, capacity and style to assess commercial viability.
  • Prepare structured memos for internal use (fit, economics, platform requirements)
  • Coordinate due diligence across a variety of internal functions.

Market & Competitor Intelligence
  • Maintain a current view of competitor platform models, compensation norms, strategy expansions and talent movements.
  • Produce concise internal memos summarising market developments and opportunities.
  • Identify emerging PMs, strategies or market dislocations worth exploring.

Lifecycle Management & Onboarding
  • Own the CRM process, from sourcing to due diligence, approval, and onboarding.
  • Support cross-functional onboarding to reduce friction and shorten timelines.
  • Maintain and refine internal processes, documentation, and approval flows.

Strategic Projects
  • Support new strategy vertical exploration and geographic expansion.
  • Contribute to firm-wide strategic planning, cost analysis and infrastructure improvement.
  • Analyse platform-level PM returns to identify portfolio risks, gaps and opportunities.

Candidate Specifications:

• 2–3 years in an Asset Manager, Investment Bank, Allocator, or top-tier strategy consulting firm.
  • Exposure to financial products and buy-side approaches.
  • Experience working with financial data or performance analysis advantageous.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills.
  • Able to synthesise qualitative and quantitative information into clear commercial insights.
  • Excellent organisational skills, capable of managing multiple workstreams.

What We Offer:

  • A great environment whereby technology is key to our success
  • The upside of a start-up without the associated risks
  • Friendly, informal and highly rewarding culture
  • A fast-growing global firm with plenty of opportunities where you will have a significant impact
