BCG is one of the most well-known management consultancies, advising top management of their clients on relevant and impactful questions which makes for very interesting work. The company culture is quite open and welcoming, less hierarchical than in other consulting companies. I really enjoyed working there – you meet lots of nice, bright and ambitious people.
Everyone is really helpful and supportive and lots of attention is paid on how you interact with others and in teams.
One peculiar thing is that BCG is really looking at what McKinsey as their main competitor does, which sometimes seems a bit odd. I have heard that this is not the case the other way around. BCG has grown a lot faster than McKinsey in the past couple of years and have almost caught up with them, so they will probably compete head-to-head in the not-so-distant future.
It goes without saying that this work involves long hours and challenging deadlines, but the management of this has improved recently. Travel can become a burden, especially if you have family.
