About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate to join our Data Operations team at Morningstar Indexes. You'll be having a hands-on experience in managing and processing financial data, supporting index production workflows, and contributing to data quality initiatives. The ideal candidate will have foundational skills in SQL and Python, a passion for data, and a strong analytical mindset. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist in the collection, validation, and processing of financial market data from various sources.  

  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from relational databases.  

  • Develop and maintain Python scripts for data transformation, automation, and reporting. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Index Research, IT, and Product to ensure data integrity. 

  • Help document data workflows and contribute to process improvement initiatives. 

  • Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot issues under supervision. 

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or a related field. 

  • Basic proficiency in SQL and Python. 

  • Familiarity with relational databases and data structures. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. 

  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment. 

  • Good communication skills in English; German is a plus but not required. 

  • Interest in financial markets and index methodologies is a plus.
